Hi all,
I'm a new member here from beautiful New Zealand. A bit about me ... 38 y.o., started golf as a youngster (9 y.o.) and got down to a 13 HCP as a 15 y.o. Joined the Air Force in '87 (still in) and then had a pretty bad car accident ('89) which smashed up my left hand (I am left handed but play right handed.) As a result this curtailed my golf and I had played only a dozen or so rounds until last xmas.
I went out for a social "hit" with my brother in law and really enjoyed it and rediscovered what I had been missing all those years. Was heartened by a comment from one of the guys we played with that I had a "low single figures swing" ... as a result I have since sold my old sticks and purchased some 2nd hand TA7's as well as a new fandangled 460cc Launcher ... my how technology has changed.
My family - wife of almost 10 yrs (together for 16), son aged 4 1/2 with a little brother for him due anytime now.
Intentions for golf - get back into the swing of things and get down to a single figure HCP, get involved in some club competitions and see where it goes from there. Enjoy life and teach my sons how to play.
That's all for now, catch you all later.
Welcome to GR, KiwiFan! NZ must be a great place to play golf!
It certainly is ... my old home course (St. Clair in Dunedin) is a course where the great Seve Ballesteros played and won the "Otago Charity Golf Classic" in 1978. There is a huge variety of courses (from 9 hole country courses to 18 hole Championship courses) for a country so small. I think (don't quote me though) that NZ has the most number of courses per capita ...
Just had a quick browse on the "net" and guess what?? How many golf courses are there in New Zealand? 385, which is the highest number of courses per capita in the world.
