Bummed out here. I was just starting to play good golf and BAM!!! June 10th Some jacka** in a pick-up runs me and my brand new GSXR-750 out of my lane and into oncoming traffic. A nice titanium plate and 5 screws and my left wrist is back together. I'm scared. I don't know how this will affect my golf game...look at poor Phil. I'll be in this cast for another month and then physical therapy. I'm a really aggressive ball striker. I even take a divot with my 3-wood. That's why I'm worried about my wrist. I pray that the golf gods have mercy on me. I have only been playing since 2002 and I spent '03 and '05 in Iraq as an infantryman. I'm a self taught low double-digit handicap and I feel like I was well on my way to single digits. I love golf. I came here for some motivation and moral support while I try to rehabilitate. Anyhow, I'm glad to be here!!!
Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you are well on your way to a full recovery. I think the toughest part of getting your golf game back will be learning to trust your wrist. It may feel tender here and there and it might get to you mentally. If I were you, I would wait until it were almost fully healed before hitting full shots. In the meantime, you could always practice your chips and putting.
Welcome to GR, Bones. Sorry to hear about your wrist. Grape is right. Allow yourself to heal and maybe you can ease back into it with your short game. I ruptured the discs in my neck and couldn't play for a year, but I was able...after a while...to start chipping and putting. It really helped my short game when I was able to start taking full swings.

A : be glad that's ALL you had broken...you COULD be a veggie...I work @ hospital, we had one dude lay here for years before checking out following a MC wreck...
B : Thanks for serving...from a fellow WV army vet....
C: ...all things considered...you should be......
Welcome and the best of wishes for a speedy and complete recovery.
Obviously, depending on where the injury is, it may impact your game, however.... don't be discouraged. I have plates on both bones in my left forearm and play without issue.

I ride a motorcycle too, so I know your plight.
Good luck in your recovery!

Thanks guys. I have a plate and five screws on the radius (the big bone) in my left forearm. Actually the wrist. It snapped completely in two an inch up from my hand. I'm nervous, but I still plan to be scratch in the not so distant future!!!
Be thankful that you are still here...your wrist will never be the same again, but hopefully you will recover full use and as far as golf goes, an understanding of the limitations the injury has put on your range of movement...it might be a good thing in that any tendencies to excessive wrist movement may be minimized!
