Open Letter to all Golfers

An open letter to all golfers:

1. The Range is not the course.
2. If you don’t lose balls either your not actually playing or you’re lying.
3. Please write down all strokes, “I don’t usually do that” doesn’t make it go away.
4. Get out of the house and play, play, play.
5. Don’t hit up on people, from my observation the one’s who think their fast are usually the slowest.
6. Although these Forums are anonymous, tell the truth, everyone can’t have a 115 mph swing speed.
7. Just about everything any pro, instructor, writer, or any of us say has already been said by Ben Hogan.

OK, just some thoughts.

AMEN Brother!
2. If you don’t lose balls either your not actually playing or you’re lying.
I say, you're not really playing golf until the game makes you talk to yourself

3. Please write down all strokes, “I don’t usually do that” doesn’t make it go away.
Have to say, Mulligan is my friend

4. Get out of the house and play, play, play.
As long as I can get a kitchen pass...

5. Don’t hit up on people, from my observation the one’s who think their fast are usually the slowest.
Definitely!

6. Although these Forums are anonymous, tell the truth, everyone can’t have a 115 mph swing speed.
85 and proud of it

7. Just about everything any pro, instructor, writer, or any of us say has already been said by Ben Hogan.
Or Harvey Penick

OK, just some thoughts.

Re: Open Letter to all Golfers

Agree with gist from your message, but for an initial post, I would simply say "Lighten Up...Francis " (from Stripes movie fame).

Ben Hogan and Harvey Penick are brilliant golfers, but there is not one way to play this great game. Whatever works for people to play better is relevant. If the advice is from your uncle, and it works for you, stick with it.

You will find many people who hit the ball an alledged 300 (and straight) yards and swing 115 mph and love their latest purchase on this web site. Get used to it.

Re: Open Letter to all Golfers

I agree with you on most points and i plead guilty to almost chasing slow players in front of me round my home course on more than one occasion. Also when the courase is quiet i do treat some othe holes like a driving range and i enjoy it,dont lose many balls TBH. No matter what coach says what,we are all different height, build etc there is no 1 way to play this fantastic game.

Re: Open Letter to all Golfers

Nice first post, especially from a 34 handicap.

Re: Open Letter to all Golfers

I didn't see where He posted his handicap. Why did you assume it is a 34. You know flaming is not allowed on this Forum.
I think he made some very good points and obviously has some issues to get off his chest. He may have been lurking here for awhile.

Bob MC-

You know, I was a little harsh and I apologize. I don't know why it struck me wrong, but I'm sorry. Welcome to GR!

2. If you don’t lose balls either your not actually playing or you’re lying.
Or . . . . you hit pretty straight but very short so you rarely actually lose sight of the ball - I do lose a few balls now and then (if you have to carry over junk or water) but it's not uncommon to play 3 or 4 rounds with the same ball (and then lose 9 on a course with a lot of carry's!)
3. Please write down all strokes, “I don’t usually do that” doesn’t make it go away.
absolutely - even the 'wiffs' and even when I jokingly say 'practice stroke'
