Its been a long time since I'v posted here. So thought I'd start with this. I'v spent about 4 years trying to teach myself to play golf and I'm really no better now than when I started. Last year was pretty good (for me). But I almost fell into a very old trap, that being that better clubs would make me a better player. I stepped back from the abyss just in time! My wife had actually given me her blessing to spend $600 on new clubs.
Instead, I'm going to put myself (and my hard earned money) into the hands of a compitent golf instructor
90's here I come!
Welcome back! Where in Oregon are you ShadowJack? I'm in Hillsboro, and play mostly on the Westside, although I love to play on the Oregon Coast.
Live in Gresham. My favorite course is Greenlea out in Boring.Pretty laid back 9 hole course, par is 31, best round was a 41.
Well, I did it, signed up at Smart Golf for a series of 6 lessons. I showed the pro my setup (club closed about 50deg and he didn't even blink, just said "I can fix that." First lesson isn't until the 28th and I really looking forward to it.
Haven't played at Greenlea, but I played at Mountain View once. Didn't care for that course much, especially that par 3 12th where you hit from a mat to an 18 story (180 foot) drop to the green. It's touted as their "signature hole".
