Hello Again As Well

I'm with LottaBalata on this one...I haven't posted here in some time since I joined, partly because I live in Upstate New York where the snow keeps me from golf until now, and partly because I was busy with other things.

I feel bad.

But I'm back, and just started my season out at my local course, Kingswood Golf Course, playing Saturday and Sunday, shooting in the 90's.

My best round was an 81, and this year I plan to bring my average score down to 75.

I'm purchasing Adams A3 irons/hybrid set this week, having it fitted at Golf Galaxy. I suppose I should update my signature with all my clubs like I see many others do.

I also just purchased the GolfLogix GPS-8 unit from Garmin, which I can't wait to get out and use. No more pacing off yardage and wasting time. Also can get a real good idea how I shoot these new Adams A3 irons when they come in and figure out my distances quickly.

I currently drive around 230, using a Cobra Speed LD F driver I bought last year and had fitted. I'm only 5'7 but if Camillo can drive much further, I should be able to as well. One of my goals is to get my average drive distance up to around 250-275 this year. Anyone with suggestions on how to do that (without having to buy a ridiculously expensive weighted driver) I would appreciate it greatly.

-Ian

Re: Hello Again As Well

Welcome back. Hope this year sees your new low round. When I was first playing years ago, I added several light weighting exercises for my forearms and wrists to increase distance. It worked in just a few months.

Re: Hello Again As Well

Thanks for the suggestion.

I actually worked out in the weight room 3 days a week all winter for 11 weeks straight, and built some core muscle. However, because I live up north and don't enjoy running in doors, I wasn't able to do as much cardio as I would like, and thus the muscles don't really show much yet.

My current body fat is around 12%, but I'd like to cut that in half, or at least under 10%, I've begun interval running training now that the weather is nice.

As for golf, I just got a new Garmin GPS-8 and Adams A3 and Cleveland CG14 wedges. I'm very excited about it all and to begin playing with them should be a blast.

My current drives as of yesterday were averaging 230 and I had one that was 250.
