HI

HI:
Old guy, (57), never played in my life, but I enjoy it so much after 1 trip to a driving range and 9 holes, that I am completely addicted. Have a penchant for older Ben Hogan clubs, using a set of no underline Radials with Speed Slot woods, have a Hogan 1 hybrid. (yes, I know the 1 is the hardest club to hit, but since they are all hard for me, what difference does it make?) and a Wedgewood 7-8 hybrid.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I surely do wish I had tried this in my younger days.
Gentleman who is a real golfer was kind enough to go with me to a local course, put up with me, and give me some tips, I am looking forward to playing again soon. ( and actually learning how to do so)

I really enjoy this site, but will be more a lurker than a poster as I can offer nothing yet...do not know enough about anything...but I WILL.

God bless,
Ulster, a.k.a. "Preacher"

Re: HI

Hey Preacher. Welcome to GR! and Welcome to Golf.

I'm 53 and took it up seriously about four years ago. Have fun!

Re: HI

Hi Avatar. Thanks for the kind words. Hopefully, it will not be too much longer before I can go and play without having to bother anyone. There are a couple of smaller courses within a couple miles of the house, that are very reasonable to play, and not hard enough that I can get in any real trouble. lol
God bless,
Preacher

Re: HI

Sounds like a very good plan. I hope you enjoy yourself, because that's what it's all about.

Re: HI

I don't think "enjoy myself" actually covers how much fun I have. I play ONLY for the joy of playing. Like that line the little fellow in Bagger Vance said, "greatest game in the world, only one you play against is yourself" (paraphrased)

Like I said earlier on, I wish I had done this years ago.

Re: HI

I know how you feel, Preacher. But let's enjoy it while we can.
