Greetings,
Just took up the game this summer and I think I am hooked. Swore I would never take up golf EVER and especially not because of work. But after participating without playing in a scramble tournament that our business sponsored, I decided to give it a swing.
Bought a beginner set of clubs and started hitting the driving range and played in two more scrambles which I totally enjoyed. Finally started visiting the local Par 3 Highland Colony Links right up the road and have played four rounds so far. On the par 27, my lowest score so far has been a rather respectable 39.
Quickly realized the short game was vitally important and rounded out my bag with a 56+ SW and 60* LW. Was finally making good 70 yard shots at the range today and had an AMAZING time finally being able to pitch onto the green from 10-20 yards away from the pin and put the ball up on the green from the sand trap.
Already thinking about adding a 5W to my bag as I can't hit my hybrids to save my life. What can I say, I am hooked after only a few months! At the least, it gives me something to obsess about during the skiing off season. A few more days at the range and the local par 3 and I think I will be ready for a full round of 18.
Looking forward to participating here at GR.
