I founded and run a 36 man golf league (hence leaguegolf) and I've been playing golf for 15 years. My equipment consists of Callaway woods with Ping irons and putter. I keep it under 80 most days and I always enjoy practicing and playing. I'll play with anyone as long as they respect the game, respect the course, and don't let their bad day ruin my good day. I look forward to hearing the opinions of those joined on this DB.
Wow, that is impressive, leaguegolf. Founder of a 36 man golf league, huh? If you don't mind me asking, where is this golf league located? Also, did you start this league with your friends or mostly random people?
I'm located in Waterford Michigan and I began the league 9 years ago when the league I was in folded. I started in January with 6 golfers (I needed 36 by April 1) so I posted flyers at several local golf domes and every golf shop that would let me. The first year was hectic but I listened and learned what the average league golfer wanted and I built from there. Now I have other league officers calling me wanting information on the way I conduct the league, the special league only tournaments we play, and the awards I've created for all the winners. The weekly scores run from a couple under par to 20 over par but it's handicapped scoring so it's very competitive. I am always looking for ways to improve so I plan to start a thread asking golfers what they like best about their own leagues and what they would improve if they could. Thanks for asking!
