Thumbs up hi from swingezy australia

G'day
This looks to be an interesting place and I am looking forward to using it. I am a 58 year old who was a hacker for 20 years until I started fiddling with my swing playing zen golf in the back yard. Since then I have read heaps of books and practiced and believe that I have discovered the secret of consistent golf. If others are interested, I look forward to sharing what I have found.

Consistancy?

swingezy,

If you've found the secret, let me be the first to test it! If you share your secret with me (and it works) I will gladly act as Promoter and Agent. There will be nominal (i.e. HUGE) fees involved but we'll leave the legal work to others because we'll be too busy practicing our new found "consistency!"

Great to have you with us! I've been searching all my golf life for your secret and I'm sure there are others like me here too.

consistency

Hi leaguegolf

Great site here.

The basic problem is that golf is a dual focus game. After extensive practising what I call zen golf, pitching/chipping into a box from various distances up to 60 yards, I have found that the ideal swing is the practice swing applied to the ball.

IN that I mean that when one executes an (actual) practice swing at a target, one orients to the target and swings freely through the line to the target. When one addresses the ball, for most, particularly hackers, the focus orients to the ball and there is a sense of wanting to 'hit' the ball with the hands.

QUESTION: Can you execute a great practice swing over a blade of grass consistently, rotating freely and finishing on balance facing the target with the club over the left shoulder with the weight on the front foot? If so, then you have a good swing. Why does this desert us when a ball is placed there. This is because the primary focus becomes the ball, and the body/hands orientation to the target is lost. Any sense of hit impact on the ball means the hands have been acting independently of the body... a 'hit'. Does this make sense so far?

swinezy,

I moved your post to this section so that more members would see it.

Are you saying "Swing through the ball, down the target line?". That's good advice no matter what level you play at.

yes very good advice, i think a lot of range people can hit it over and over consistently but sure why not, it is a good lie and there is no pressure....i know i do it a lot but if i calm myself down and act like it is a range shot BLAM it does what i want........

i am also guilty of not finishing my shot as my pro noticed, same advice "Swing through the ball, down the target line" is what he told me and BLAM there it goes again.....

great advice swingezy!!!

I think that the advice as quoted is given a lot, but I believe that people still use the ball as the object of focus and lose their original target orientation. Also they focus on their hands in relation to the ball and even if they attempt to 'swing through the ball' they tend to want to 'do something to the ball'.

Two principles: (1)The practice swing when executed towards the actual target is perfect if one swings over a blade of grass consistently and finishes on balance.
(2) The ball is a distractor over the blade of grass. There is a dual focus problem that must be eliminated in the swing.

There are ways of dealing with these problems if people are interested.

g'day

No cost:) ! I am just interested in feedback if anyone tries anything I mention.
I have spent a lot of time on my own swing, own a million books, practice zen golf and am interested in 'flow'. Because I started as a real hacker, I believe I have encountered every problem known to man. I think I have found the fundamental principles governing the swing from the driver to the putter. Not that I can always execute them, that would mean I was inhuman...or Annika Sorenstam.. I would just like to see some of my experience maybe help others and get some feedback. What do you say?
