New to the Forum

Hi all!

I'm new to the forum, just found it. Love to read about others golf experiences and comments. Not only am I new to the forum, but I just got some new clubs. Wnet to pick up my granddaughters at the airport. Took my clubs out of the Jeep and set them aside in the garage. While I was gone, they fell over. Used the automatic garage door opener and didn't see the clubs. Drove right over them. A little nervous about telling the wife. When I did, she said, "Well, you wanted a new set anyway, didn't you?" So, I did.

I am a senior golfer (10 handicap) and I just bought a set of Nike Slingshots about two weeks ago. I really love them. Every round has proven to me that I did the right thing.
With my preious set, I had "ditched" my 2, 3, 4, 5 irons. In the new set, I only bought 6-PW. Seems to me that most average golfers, trying to hit 2-5 irons is problematic at best. I now carry a Cobra driver, Titlest V-Foil 3W, 5W, 7W, 9W and a Taylormade hybrid 5. In addition, I've always carried a PW, SW, 60 degree W and a 64 degree W (X-Wedge). By making that change a few months ago, I've cut my handicap by 3 strokes. I regularly shoot in the high 70's and am playing the best golf of my life. No use punishing yourself with long irons. The way to score is from 100 yards in. Never hit a shot that you don't know the distance. I use my woods/metals for position and the short irons/putter to score. Just get me to 120 yards and in and, as the McDonald's ad says, "I'm lovin it!" :)

Welcome golfedaugusta! Glad to have you here at GolfRewind. That is one of the best ways I have ever heard to get a new set of clubs. You must have a great wife, does she golf too? Everybody here looks foward to hearing of your golfing exploits.

golfedaugusta - welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have a real handle on your game and what works for you.

Thanks for the thought - need new clubs, run over the old ones.

Hey, folks: What golfedaugusta didn't tell us was that after he ran over his clubs, he threw it in reverse, just to make sure!

Welcome to Golf Rewind, golfedaugusta! I read 1 post from you, and I'm already thinking about getting a hybrid 5! (Already replaced the long irons with 5W, 7W, and 9W.) You're costing me money, guy!

Seriously, I think you'll like it here. Glad to have you!

Love your set-up, golfedaugusta!

That's one of the best introductions I've ever seen. I'm really looking forward to reading your posts here at Golf Rewind.
