I love the game of golf and hope to gain some info from this forum.
The golfing is limited where I live to about 5 months of the year and I manage to maintain an 11 handicap while playing about 50 rounds a year.
Hello, to Golf Rewind. There's lots of helpful members here, many of which are Canadians who share your short golf season. I'm in Michigan so I'm right there with you. We just have to make the most of the time we have!
Welcome, igolfalot! I'm another golfer who lives in a place with a short golf season (Minnesota). A few months from now, we'll have to read posts from guys telling about their latest golfing triumph, while we're practicing explosion shots from snow drifts. Gotta love the game.
Have fun here at Golf Rewind, the family-friendly golf site for respectful conversation.

What do you mean "while WE'RE practicing explosion shots from snow drifts"? You got a mouse in your pocket? I'll play in all kinds of weather but I draw the line at snow drifts!
A guy on a lousy board I used to visit told of practicing explosion shots after a freeze-thaw-freeze cyle had turned the snow in his yard to the consistency of bunker sand. That's where I shamelessly stole my reference from. I'll have to try it sometime.
Another thing I'll have to try: A golf event is often part of the annual St. Paul (MN) Winter Carnival. They hold it on a frozen lake. It's just a few "holes" (very short), and you can't put much of a swing on the ball when you're dressed for zero-type temperatures. I asked my buddy Larry last year if he wanted to enter but he declined. Maybe next year!
igolfalot (or others): Any such winter craziness in your neck of the woods? (Or we can save this thought until winter gets here, in a few weeks.)
I mentioned in another thread that I play until the ground is covered with snow. I've played many a round with the ground frozen so hard you didn't dare try to take a divot. You could break a club or worse yet a bone in your hand or wrist! You had to "pick" every shot and play for a lot of roll. Many times the flagstick is stuck, frozen in the ice filled cup, so we have to play if the ball hits any part of the cup or flag it's considered in. We don't always have snow here in December, January, or February but it's always cold! Crazy? Sometimes....but you'd be surprised at how warm you get and how fast you can play on a 35-40 degree day.
That's the only reason I would be tempted to use the "IGNORE" function!
You can't ignore Forged (or at least I can't...you might be able to because of your magic Moderator powers) because he's a Mod. ... Not that I've tried or anything...

I'd be careful with ForgedRbest......these Moderator Powers are scary. He's a patient and understanding guy. Just ask your buddy Mr. Trance.
