#!?$^#@ Hurricaines

Hi all!!! Besides no knowing much about golf I "ain't right". I tend to do thing a little backwards. Short Hx: I broke my RIGHT (domimant) arm Thanksgiving and I was only able to return to work a month ago. The Hx of the complications I won't bore you with. Anyway I came to the realization I couldn't manage my herd of cattle (hubby is gone 4 days a week) crippled. So we sold the farm and bought a house in The Villages, Fla (still live in Georgia most of the time). **** I don't know how to play golf...that is a double duh for sure. So I now live in a golf community, lost 25% function of my arm and am about to take golf lessons. (I did get good shoes). So where is the forum for repetitive questions from dummies. I can answer questions on cattle and chickens if anyone needs help on that subject

Welcome thecownurse! You should fit right in here. Golf and cows have alot in common, after all golf is nothing but pasture pool.

Welcome, thecownurse! Farming, livestock... really tough businesses. And disability doesn't make them any easier, that's for sure. Sounds as if things are getting better, though. Nice to have you here.

Thanks for the welcome. Actually Today I will bush hog part of the lower pasture so we can drive some balls....drive that means I can put them in my car and drop them where I want to, right. I'm loooking forward to learning and am also hoping to get more use of this arm back.

LOVE your sense of humor!
I've seen lots of folks at our club with progressive disabilities, but they just live for the game. You might try to find a current issue of Golf For Women Magazine....It focuses on several women surviving breast cancer and it's aftermath...What drives them to recovery? Their love of golf! I swung a club 3 weeks after surgery 14 years ago...It was one of my biggest fears, that I wouldn't be able to swing. BUT here I am, loving it (or hating it depending on the day) and looking forward to every tee.

First golf lesson was a true sucess . The pro said all the right things to encourage me to spend more money on lessons. Actually I think that I did pretty well......all the divots (sp?) went in a straight line. He even said "Don't worry we have lots more grass". Actually the arm isn't going to be much of a problem....since it is my right arm and (per the pro) I don't use it until the botton thrid of the swing I should be O.K. It is the shoulder that is partially frozen and I WILL get that back!!!!! (My tenacity has been described by "I WILL argue with a stop sign" hehehehe)

Glad to hear the lesson was a success! Just remember that golf is one of those '2 steps forward, 1 step back' kind of games. Stay positive!
