hello from a golf newbie...

hello,

i'm excited to see a forum or golfers (or newbie golfers) for tips and advice.

so i took a couple of golf lessons and even attended golf camp a couple of years back when i thought it would round out my mba. needless to say, life and work got busy and golf was largely forgotten...until now. amazingly, i remembered most of what i learned years back but having almost never played or practiced, but boy do I stink. i'm taking private lessons but mostly i just swing a lot to get into my rhythm and form. strangely enough, listening to some music on my ipod and practicing during lunchtime is my favorite part of the day...well, when i'm not with my hubby.

i do have a question, my husband thinks golf is well, kind of silly and has no interest but i really would like to play with him. has anyone been successful in converting their loved one onto golf....depsite themselves?

well, i hope to learn lots from everyone on this forum.

jen

Welcome to the forum Jen. Yes, I have been successful at getting my wife to take up golf. Let him caddy first, and drive the cart, if that doesn't work make your regular foursome be three guys and you. He will take up the game then. Enjoy Golf Rewind.

Hi Jen and welcome to GR! I'm married to ForgedRbest and still basically a beginner golfer. He and I have had some of the best times ever since I took up golf, so hopefully your hubby will join you.
Forged's suggestion reminds me of a little story I read. A woman joined a gym to get back into shape after having a couple children. She was getting discouraged because her husband didn't seem to notice the changes in her shape and grumbled about the time she spent at the gym. One evening, she and her husband were taking a walk. A good-looking young man came jogging by and greeted her by name. As her husband took notice of this guy's muscles, he asked her "Who was That?". She told him it was just a guy from the gym. The husband joined the gym the next week.

I can't help you with your question as the two previous posters so nicely did, but welcome to Golf Rewind anyway Jen! Hope you decide to stick around and join in the conversations. There are many many friendly and knowledgeable folks who are willing to help out anyone with anything they may need to know.

Welcome to GR nahnee. It sounds like you have a lot of to offer & I look forward to reading your posts. I've tried , without success, to turn my wife into a golfer 3 times. The last time she took lessons & we went out a few times... the whole bit. She became frustrated with her lack of progress and gave it up. She does enjoy riding with me when I'm not playing with my regular group, though. As someone already suggested, that may be a good place to start to see if it sparks any interest. Good luck.
