Seriously though.. these clubs should help him get in the groove.

I really believe his old clubs are holding him back.
They are late 90's graphite Nickent Greathawk's.
Got them from the bargain bin... ie, the demo barrel.
The graphite has too much flex.
Still good clubs but they are not for him.

I'm actually going to the Mizuno fitting event at the golfsmith in my area this weekend. I'm leaning towards the 23s. Both the 17s or 23s would be a HUGE improvement for me since I'm using some Hogan blades from the late 70s.

I was going to get the MX17's but went for the X18s due to the head being a bit heavier and a more solid feel at impact. But, the MX17's are a really nice club, and i rated then above the Nikes & Taylor Mades i tried, just the Callaways were that bit better imo (Although, not supprising for the price difference)

For the money the MX17 are a bargain (£230 3-sw @ American Golf)

Zenkar,

That's great to hear! They are sweet clubs!

My 16 yr old son is enjoying the heck out of his MX17's.

He's playing alot more now that he's got a good set of clubs.

Just bought a set on ebay from "The golf professional" with a gap and lob wedge too. He's building them 1/2" longer for me (I'm 6'2") and was very helpful too!

Well I played in the medal on sunday and boy did I play! Net 66 three birdies including 2 2's so I'm in the money there too.

Irons went like a dream but I putted well too (which is very unusual), so I'm waiting to see if I won the medal.

I'm really looking into these irons. I'm currently playing Nike NDS irons with a uniflex, but after going back into roger dunn to get swing monitored, they told me to go stiff shaft for all clubs (and then i picked up my Cleveland Hibore =D) , but yes i'm looking to sell my nds and maybe getting back like 200 on it and i'm not looking to spend more than 300 more than that, and the mx-17 are in that range. Any advice?

I just want to say these irons are beautiful. i picked them up for 220 on ebay with no signs of wear and no real sign of comestic damage. i lost some yardage but more consistant in accuracy,

I love the look of the Mizuno range at the moment. They are beautiful club. I hope they keep the MP-60 similar to the current model in years to come because once i get to the level of forged clubs i'd love a set of them.
