Ping i5 Irons Review

I tried my new I5's for the first time today. I got them the first week of January but it has been fairly cold in Toronto this year. I went to one of the outdoor heated ranges and it was very nice today with little wind.

I forgot how well Ping packs their shipments. It took me near 5 minutes just to get all the cello wrap and bubble wrap off them.

I was only hitting off mats so it was impossible to tell how they will cut through the dirt but they felt very solid. I had the shafts done halfway beween "R" and "S" 1/2 inch over Std length CS Lites, 3 to 6 iron green lie and 7 through PW in Blue. Std thickness Golfpride tour wrap grips.

Typical Ping quality and great feel.

I've played Mizunos all my life and have to say that they are fantastic at making a great iron, but I just wanted to try something different this year and went for these i5's (although I really hated going against me ol' favourite manufacturer).

I get great performance from them. Okay, not as attractive to look at as say MP-32 or MP-60 but they perform just as well from what I can tell so far, and I get added confidence when I address the ball, surely a plus.

Thumbs up from me...

Re: Ping i5 Irons Review

Just picked up my set today. Green dot, 1/2" long with the gold grip.

These irons are fantastic, just hit a jumbo bucket at the range with them tonight, and I can honestly say these where the best balls I have ever hit with an iron. I cannot wait to get on the course tomorrow. They do line up a little closed from what I am used to but it wont take long to adjust.

I am coming from Tour Edge Bazookas, and man these are so much better than the TE. The tour edge ws great in getting me started, they served there purpose well. See what my professional says tomorrow about my swing with the new irons.
