i hit both clubs again this weekend in the launch moniter and have decided to buy the fp's. I hit them great this weekend. I hit the S9's great as well but not 200.00 bucks better. The FP's do look sweet too.

I had a 10 year old set of department store irons (Northwestern) when I first started playing. This year I decided to buckle down and play more so I decided to get new clubs. So after some research I purchased the FPs. I hit with them a few days ago on the range and wow! I love my clubs! I had graphite shafts before and decided to go with steel this time - I can't be happier. Shots feel very solid and the ball jumps off the face. I did hit with the S9s as well, but the larger club head bothered me too much. haha. I'm not sure why the FPs are priced lower either.

After some serious decision making, I bought the Cobra FP's. Love em. Seem full of forgiveness and consistentcy. Haven't played them on a course yet as there is still white stuff on the ground. Soon though, soooooon.

Whats the big difference performance wise between the two? Its very hard for me to tell hitting them into the net, because they both feel great and are a joy to swing, but I cant see t he ball flight/trajectory.

Someone else compared them to hogans I remember reading somewhere and said he thought they were better clubs. All around.
The S9's seem a little softer to me, more forgiving i think and I believe that their lie angles are steeper than the FP's. Their launch angles in the simulator were higher though, at least for me anyway. Must be the way they're weighted. I don't really know.

I really like their new hybrid, the Baffler DWS and figured I would look into their irons as well.

I currently have Adams GT3's an am really in no rush to upgrade just yet but I am getting a little tired of the lack of vibration dampening. Also looking for irons that are only moderately offest but still forgiving. The offset confuses me at address and I generally get the club pretty square so I figured I'd at least try some neew irons to see if I feel a little better at address.

Thanks in advance.
The specs on these clubs are excellent. They seem to have very little offset compared to many of the other similar brands. They are a touch light with a D1 swing weight, but good loft and lie (slightly upright). I've recently checked the specs on the KZG's and Srixons and they have considerably more offset (other than the ZO's). Even the TM TP's seem to have considerably more offset, as well as the Callaway X-20's. You can bend lofts and lies, but not offset. I'm leaning toward the MP-60's myself-- though I plan on checking the Cally x-20-tours. The Bridgestones may be a great club, but they look so darn dull. I'll have to try the Cobras as well this weekend. Hope I don't spontaneously implode.

^ rounds with the Fp's and I'm still happy with them. Can't the 4 iron worth a **** though. That was my go to club in my old set. Still trying to figure out their yardages though. It's tough up here because it's not summer temps yet and the ground is still really soft, no roll.

Re: -> Cobra S9 vs. Cobra FP Irons Comparison

I just bought a set of S9s with steel shafts, 4 degrees upright, and I love them. I am hitting them about a club longer than my previous set (Adams GT2) and hitting them a bit higher too. I really like the idea of heel and toe weighting on an iron so I was looking at Callaway, Nickent, and Cobra. I hit the Callaway and the Cobra about the same, but I liked the looks and the price of the Cobras better.

Re: -> Cobra S9 vs. Cobra FP Irons Comparison

I am enjoying my new FP's. I find they are forgiving and launch the ball with good trajectory. I keep hearing people state that you can't shape shots with them but I sure did a couple of days ago. I was had a driving range type net protecting the people on the next tee box from people who hit their tee shots left between me and the green. Because I could not see the green from where I was at a straight shot would have just gone into the net I normally would just punch it back on the fairway and hit the next shot on the green.
Well I decided to try a trick shot and instead tried to send it toward the fairway and hook it back toward the green. Well I pulled it off hooked right onto the middle of the green. So I guess this proves you can work the ball a bit with the FP's. Lee Trevino would have been proud of me lol.............

Re: -> Cobra S9 vs. Cobra FP Irons Comparison

Just to throw in my 2 cents I have the S9's with nippon NS Pro 900 reg flex shaft and have had excellent success long repeatable ball flight very accurate. I also have the FP's and just installed from Golfsmith the true temper GS75 iron shaft and the Golf Pride Durometer Lite grip in & on them. I really enjoyed the forgiveness of the S9's but liked the look of the FP's. Waiting for the weather to clear to test drive the FP's with just a few hits with them I enjoyed the swing ease and the results of the ball flight.Bottom line you can't go wrong with either club, affordable and playable.
