I tried 5 or 6 sets this week, and the mx19s were easily the easiest to use and most forging club I tested, sending the ball very high. They were a club shorter than the other stronger lofted offerings though, so I went for the taylormade rac os.
I swung the Mx-19 today along with the Ping G5, Cobra S9, Nike OSS, and Calaway Big Bertha '06's.
What I really like about the Mizunos was there thin top line design and consistency. They are certainly a quality iron. Shots on the heel ot toe still seemed to go straight. The only thing I didnt really like was the feel on contact. A little too much vibration, and a clank instead of a nice soft pop. Thats all just personal choice though, so try them out for yourself.
In my case, the Cobra S9's seem to be the best fit for me. Excellent feel and very forgiving. The grip is the best of the bunch, and the feel on contact is soft yet solid. Truly a great iron from what ive experienced thus far. Of course, the true test will be out on the grass, but I wont know that until I get fitted this week and take them out to the range (or weather permitting, the course)
Until this spring I played a set of Powerbilt irons, which were 25 yo but were somewhat on the leading edge of the cavity back, perimeter weighting revolution of the last generation. When I was playing regularly I hit them pretty well, but I don't play very regularly though this year that will change.
Anyways, I got the MX19 last fall and have played them twice this spring. If my swing is halfway decent then I get a good or better shot out of the clubs. I think they are very forgiving. If my swing is really good then I hit the ball very, very well. High and straight, like I used to be able to hit. I rarely *totally* screw one up.
I'm a lefty and I've always had a problem with pushing left, even to short irons, and slicing also, particularly with the long irons. That problem seems to be gone now.
I'm very happy with them and would recommend them.
