How many people from NC on here?

Just wondering how many people on here are from North Carolina. I live in Sanford, dead center of the state. 40 minutes from Raleigh, 30 minutes from Fayetteville, 40 minutes from Greensboro, and, most importantly, 20 minutes form Pinehurst.

I'd love to say from NC...job situation kind of in the air now, will know more next January if I'll be moved to another group after the system I support is replaced...

Seriously considering your state, how's the IT jobs there...I'm a programmer/analyst with about 20 years experience...

We're you born in NC or moved to there from where, if you don't mind me asking.

I was born and raised here.

As for the IT industry here. It is improving. I worked for IBM, then Nortel. I was laid off from Nortel in 2003. I did some contract work for a while, but I am currently working in mechanical engineering and robotics. I was in networking which is still struggling, but a programmer/analyst should have no problem.

Do you have some head hunter contacts that you would recommend? I wouldn't mind testing the waters down there to see what's available through that circle.

Thanks in advance.

I'm getting together some contacts for you.....

There are others on here from NC who have not responded. I'd love to get a meet and greet together, play a little golf, etc

Calabash! Now there's a name I remember. Back when I was a kid there was only one place to eat in Calabash. It wasn't fancy but it was the best. The last time I was up there, about 30 years ago, it looked like some kind of seafood kingdom and all of them claimed to be the original. What a laugh. Can't imagine what it's like now. I grew up in Florence County and Ocean Drive and Cherry Grove were where we all hung out. That was back in the late '50s and early '60s. Only time we ever went down to Myrtle was to eat at Mammy's Kitchen and catch the bands at the old Beach Club on King's Highway. I would love to go up there and try some of the golf courses and catch some of the big name clubs up there now. A far cry from all those years ago. Have a good one and thanks for the memories.
Jerry

I was born and raised in a small town (and by small i mean smaaaal) right outside of Charlotte. Wouldn't trade it for anything. I am going to North Myrtle this summer right near Cherry Grove, can anyone recomend any courses?
