1969 - Late July/August

With all of the coverage of Katrina and comparisons to the deadly Camille in August of '69, I decided to surf for some info on Camille. I found it occurred on the same weekend as Woodstock, one week after the Manson murders, 3 & 1/2 weeks after the 1st lunar landing and a month after Ted Kennedy drove off the bridge. No particular significance I guess, but I found it interesting that these 5 cultural touchstones, so-to-speak, all occurred within a month of each other.

Hey, Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my firearms.

Without that fateful trip over the bridge, Ted Kennedy would have never found his favorite drink; "The Chappaquiddick". It is Scotch and murky water, and if you have one you better brace yourself!
