Most Romantic Golf Trip

OK, my 25th wedding anniversary is approaching next year and I want to have a most romantic 2 weeks of my life with my wife playing golf and doing other things. I want you to either recommend places to go or describe your experience
on places that are Good/Bad/Ugly - recommnedation or to let me know places to avoid.

I'm 6 and she's 25 handicap.
We're approaching 50
Located in NorthEast, USA
No limit on budget
Beautiful places are good but not crazy on sightseeing

Let's begin!

I would tour Ireland and Scotland. The scenery is breathtaking , the Irish are the most hospitable race on earth, and the golf will take your breath away as well.

The best location is USA I have visited was Pebble Beach ,the hotel is excellent,CArmel is a lady's paradise.

Have you seen much of golfing couples in either of the places while you were there?

Pebble Beach definitely. Yes there are a lot of couples. It is beautiful there, but very expensive.

Scotland and Ireland are both fantastic for golf and i,ve been lucky to play most of the best/well known courses but there are not that many couples that tour around, it tends to be groups of men on outings.
If you want good golf in a romantic setting and expense is not an issue then let me recommend........Mauritius!
If I can afford it at the time I am taking my wife there for her 40th, only 5 years to save up! otherwise it will have to be for her 50th!

That would be my dream golf vacation, unfortunately my better half doesn't play and the UK is way down on her list of vacation spots.

simple. a luxurious cruise to Hawaii where you can go riding horseback, snorkel, golf, just lay on the beach and hang out, drink mai-tai's(sp?), etc, etc, etc. and do what newlyweds normaly do.

then just a nice flight back home.

My brother and his wife did 10 days in Ireland for their honeymoon. Flew over, rented a car, and just drove until they saw a little town they liked, went into the local, bought a round, and asked for suggestions. After they'd done and seen everything there, the locals suggested where to go next. They swear everyone in Ireland was helpful about accomodations, tee times, sightseeing and very considerate of their "romantic" vacation.

My brother was, at the time, a VP with Expedia.com and traveled all the time but he says he'll definitly go back to Ireland.

If you were planning this trip with me, either the Hawaii cruise (I hate packing and unpacking and spending half my vacation getting from one activity to another) or a great resort that offers all the ameneties like Nemacolin Woodlands.

My personal favorite in the Carribean is St. Croix in the Virgin Islands but I have friends who swear by Jamaica. I've done Bermuda twice and was underwhelmed both times.

How about Portugal? The Algarve is superb, the food great, the golf courses come thick and fast. Pine Cliffs near Albufeira is a delightful hotel complex and 9 holer that your wife will love. Nearby are the championship courses at Vilamoura. Hope to see you there.

Never thought about Portugal but I'll check it out. Wait a minute, I'm drinking Portugese wine at the moment.. Hmmm, must be an omen.
