So yesterday was the Steeler's Bye Week, no football for the home town, I played with the kids and caught up on some yard work, cut the grass, pine needles and pine cone cleanup, we have about 40 pines surrounding our property...also, tore out a thorn bush and some shrubs below our driveway that happen to catch basketballs, frisbees, etc...
So folks, how do you spend your Bye Week's when your home team is not playing football?
Stained my kids' wooden play structure for about 3 hours in the morning. Played golf at about noon. Came home and rested the rest of the evening.
It has been so dag gone hot here. It was 90 or 92 on Saturday, 88 yesterday. I am ready to turn off the AC, and sleep with blankets at night. It is October "for crying out loud". Golf was nice yesterday though.
I still play golf even when the Steelers are plaing. I TiVo the game and watch it when I get home. Same thing next weekend, since they play Monday night.

When my team has a bye, I thank God because that's one week the Cowboys can't lose!! Typically I watch college football on Saturday and play golf or watch some of the other NFL games on Sunday. This time of the year, however, with the Cards being in the MLB postseason chase, that will take up my attention til the end of October or whenever they make their exit from the playoffs.
In this next of the woods I had to fix a leak in the pool....the water is still warm down here. Then I went a played a round of golf with out my dirver.....I am in the middle of a driver change.....and used my 3 wood. That was different. I guess if I did that a few more times my long irons would get better.
Very true, I've played that for a number of years and did have fun with it, except for a few guys that I just didn't agree with how they did things...but it happens.
That's simple...go play golf. It beats couch potatoeing anyday.
Exactly!
In fact at this point of the year golf trumps football as far as I'm concerned. The weather in Texas in the fall is PERFECT for golf. I usually tape the games and watch them in the evening AFTER a round or if I'm going to the range. So I really dont' miss anything and I get to skip halftime and the commericals.
