Lost the match, so I made this dinner !

I lost 2 and 1 in a match play game against a buddy, we had a wee bet, loser makes a three course dinner for four so this is what I prepared at home last evening. As a starter jumbo steamed prawns with my homemade cocktail sauce. The main course I selected four well aged 10 ounce New York steaks, I broiled them medium rare, just before they were done I spread a thin coating of Dijon mustard ( imported only ) on them, then sprinkled them with demerrara sugar, back under the broiler until the sugar melts and forms a slight crust. I served the steaks with baby red potatoes roasted with rosemary, garlic and paprika, and some pan fried button mushrooms. For dessert I had made a Scottish sherry trifle which I served with clotted cream and to finish an excellent Brazilian coffee with Drambuie. A delightful evening indeed, I really prefer to lose to this pal when we have this particular bet, I won once and we were treated to a very watery lasagna and some overdone garlic bread but its' the thought that counts, by the way Tony is a greenskeeper at the club, and I spent many years cooking fine food for a living.

Tough question... a course with tight fairways, punishing rough and doglegs that even Tiger can't cut across. But at the same time, you'd have to play in those conditions. So yeah, I'd say you're out a steak dinner.

You'll be welcome in SA - we'll probably match the dinner if I lose -

Sorrel soup
Ostrich fillet in pink peppercorn sauce
Passion fruit posset

Fine SA wines and Amarula cream liqueurs with coffee

Incentive to win don't you think?

Oh c'mon guys, how many of you have actually tried haggis ? a few years ago I owned and operated a high class butcher shop and deli. I would produce an average of 400 pounds of haggis at the beginning of January most of it going to wholesale orders for " Burn's night celebrations ". I would advertise in the local paper that " haggis production had begun, free samples " it was great advertising, brought a number of curious shoppers and the majority of those who sampled my fine haggis enjoyed it. One of my employees ( my daughter ) stated she would " never eat that disgusting stuff " strange statement from someone who enjoyed bologna and stuffed herself with pepperoni, products that are full of flour, binders, animal by products and " mechanically deboned meats ". By products by the way can include the following from any animal or fowl, stomach, cheeks, tongues, giblets etc. etc. read the ingredient labels on your next package of hot dogs folks ! Have a great day guys !

Thanks for the inside info buteman. I guess it'll be vegan for me from here on out. Actually , I'll try anything once...I'm speaking of food here folks... as long as it's prepared by someone who knows what they're doing.
