Dream job turned nightmare?

Have you ever landed your "ideal" dream job.......only to find out that it was going to end up driving you crazy?

I was Finance Director (Senior VP Finance ) of a Premier League Soccer club.

Left after two years before a heart attack arrived.

So you're the one who nearly took Chelsea to the wall!? Why didn't you stay and finish the job?

I kept them afloat long enough for the russians to walk in. I left three months before Roman turned up with his money printing press. Nobody knew how seriously broke they really were.

When times were bleak, Trevor Birch and I agreed ,things could be worse, we could be at Leeds........which is where he went twelve months later!

We knew exactly how bad it was, but the chairman never listened

Gonna have to threadjack here...

Lefty, what (if anything) do you know about talks between Bates and Mohammed al Fayed concerning possible groundsharing at SB? Got any good dirt?

Bates and the Pharoah had a number of lunches on the subject. The deal was done , then the Pharoah dropped out over a trivial item. Had he known what he was doing, he could have bought the bond for about £50 mil and owned the ground outright. Craven Cottage would sell for more than that.

Sorry, which bond? A term of the deal or an existing bond that Bates needed to flog?

Chelsea borrowed £75 mil from the city with a debenture across the site. The interest rate was 8.875 %,payable in December. The bond was traded and could be bought for a discount. Bates famously said that the price was the same as a left back would be in 2007 ,when the bond had to be paid back. Whoever owned the bond, owned the ground.

Must be having one of those 'futbol' discussions I see. I'm going to have to run it by my "english" buddies here to translate.

Trying to get back to the original post...

Once I was Isabelle Bezeigel's caddy, working wholly on a cut of her wins... didn't go too well.

Guess you didn't stay long enough to learn to spell her name, huh?
