No, in fact I have a little min pin that I call a ten pound terroist (actually I don't think she's ever had a mean thought in her life!), but there are just no kids in my neighborhood. We live in a thriving western Arizona resort community, it's growing like crazy, so I think every year this might be the one, but nope, not yet!
I gave up on giving out halloween candy. After my experience last year, I'll probably only pass out candy when I have my own, even that's a maybe. Last year when I tried to ration out the candy by giving only two pieces to the kids that came by, I got too many "I only get two pieces! Don't be stingy lady!" So after about the 10th of that, I shut the door and kept the rest of the candy for myself.
Well kids these days are getting ruder and ruder. My fiance and I ran and hid from them at a local restaurant last night so we would have any knocks on our door.
We had the normal crowd. It was pretty heavy from 6-7:30 , then nothing. What's wrong with kids these days ? I can remember going until at least 9-9:30.
new house in a new neighborhood in March so this was our first Halloween since moving and we had well over a hundred trick or treaters. I would say that the average age was less then 10 and overall they were very polite. There were lots of cute costumes, but the best costume that I saw was home made and involved lots old and worn ace bandages turning the child into a pretty realistic looking mummy!
I had a kid come around dressed as Michael Schumacher, he had what looked like an authentic (kid sized) Ferrari team drivers suit and a Ferrari hat. I thought it was pretty original for a 8 to 10 year old kid.
We live on a short street with only a couple of kids. They must go to parties at their school or something because they never come to our house. Had zero last year. Thought we were heading for another shutout this year, when 5 teenaged boys (about 13-14 y.o.) showed up around 8:30 (late by our town's standards). No costumes. They were nice kids, though. I was generous with our stash and gave extra to the kid who said he'd been chased by a dog.
My 14 Y/O son took over this year. He thinks he's too old to go out trick-or-treating, though a couple of kids we got looked as if they could've used a shave. He carved the pumpkins, set up candles in the windows, shut off all of the lights and blasted vintage Black Sabbath from the stereo with the door open. We drew the line at his "fire-breathing" trick he wanted to greet the kids with though.
You are too young to sound middle aged, have you been mixing with Leaguegolf and his cronies?
it probably has something to do with the fact that my dad, ForgedRbest and my mom PingsRbest raised me to appreciate whatever was given or offered me. I would have gotten in so much trouble if I every complained at how much candy was handed out to me by someone at halloween. Not only that, I was smart enough as a child to realize that there were a lot of other kids that would be coming along who would want candy after me and not to be greedy.
