Rules of Gloating: The Principle of Latitudinal Longitudinality
Quote:
In terms of gloating, one person's casual mention of their weather being superior to another person's can only be considered gloating if they are positioned to the south of the other person. Since southerly climes are, typically, less prone to cold temperatures than more northerly ones, any complaints about cold temperatures shall be considered whining by those north of said person and generally ignored. Furthermore, those north of the 40ºN latitude isotherm are exempted from all gloating status, as weather conditions dictate a "take it while you can" attitude must predominate for the 6 months of good weather.
This rule may be overridden if there is sufficient evidence that the person was mentioning their weather for these reasons: 1) to antagonize a fish, as they live in a delicate psychological balance. 2) to use as propaganda for a political affiliation. 3) they were abusing their keyboard as they typed the message out, since keyboard abuse is the #1 killer of keyboards in America and we here should not stand for it.

Come on out of the closet, stlcard_25. It won't change the way any of us feel about you. Just be true to yourself, recognizing that the real you must be set free.
Did you choose to be a gloater, or were you born that way? That may never be conclusively determined. But you must accept the fact that yes, you are a gloater. Perhaps it is your own self-loathing that causes you to disparage other gloaters so much. Until you accept your gloater-ness your life will be filled with nothing but envy, hate, and some strange compunction to support the St. Louis Cardinals.
No gloating going on here...no one was as shocked as I when the temperatures topped 60 late last evening. However, I knew that colder times were coming, so I used the opportunity, in the spirit of Thankgiving next week, to give thanks for the warmth bestowed upon us by God.
As for the Missourians...they don't know cold. While we were lucky yesterday, they'll see the 60s soon again...and again...and again. Meanwhile, we're back into the low 40s today, with raging winds to boot, and a forecast low in the low 20s tonight.
Admitting you are powerless over gloating is the first step to recovery!
I can see from the previous posts that the genetics/environment question continues!
Will we ever know?
Since I live in beautiful sunsational Arizona, I promise not to ever mention our year-round great weather, although it does get a bit warm in the summer!

So gloat that...
You say that like it's a bad thing. We'll be playing in conditions like that for the next four months. Low 40s is t-shirt weather.

We might see the low 40s on occasion, but even so, the snow we'll be buried under won't allow us to get out and play. I'm afraid my season is likely over...thank goodness hunting season is in to take up some of my time.

Bah!!! All you need is the will to get out there and do it.

Yea, and it gets a bit overcast once in awhile in Seattle. My sister lives just outside of Phoenix and I've visited her in July. I'll stick with my 4 seasons, thanks(well 3 & 1/4 as Michigan really doesn't have a season that can qualify as Spring ), if AZ is my alternative.

Tsk Tsk Tsk.....the denial continues!
Since you're like family, this really is traumatizing me.
While "the offender" gets to release his frustrations by posting a zillion St.Louis Cardinal posts, we have to suffer until he just embraces the truth.
By the way...we're not gloating really. We envy those with "fall/spring" and colors and skiing, and snowboarding...but not the ice scraping, driveway shoveling, street salting, frostbitten fun that goes with it.
Oh, and we don't have to "warm into" our golf season....hmmm ok, maybe that is gloating
