I am an active member at McLean Presbyterian and a children's Sunday School teacher (though on a one year hiatus this year to get married). My wife and I are also in a Bible study with some folks from the church and have been asked to lead a couple of our meetings coming up.
Just curious, but what are some of the staples of Pentacostal Theology?
...that hit me as funny....
I used to be a regular attendee... member & all....of a Pentecostal "church"....until 5 yrs ago.... now it's no big deal if I get there or not..I've seen the ugly side of "Religion", and it's changed my opinion of "churches"... all inclusive
THe Church of the Rolling Fairways, Believe me , there is a lot of praying going on.........
VERY clever and not too far away from my thinking except I do on occasion go to mass but very rarely.
I think that God is there if you want to find him and you don,t have to go to church for that.
I,ve incorporated many christian ways into my kids upbringing but do not enforce a religious regime in their lives.
I find expressions of faith in the whole world whether here on the farm or at/under the sea or on the golf course! and if being nice ,friendly, helpful to society in general and an all round reasonable person means you are "godfearing" well.... hopefully that is me!
I attend a Church of Christ Sundays @10am & 6pm, sometimes Wed night bible study and serve as a songleader. This is a fine thread but we might want to stay away from questions such as "what are the tenets of your faith" on the open forum. These are very deeply held and personal issues of faith and I've seen this sort of thing get out of hand quickly. J1MO
I go too, every Sunday. I don't really accept what is being said as the absolute truth. We mainly go because it's when my wife's parents get to see their grandkids. It's about a 45 minute drive each way when traffic is good, otherwise we'd probably go to one closer.
I was raised up going to church all the time. My parents over-sheltered me, so when I went to college, things really changed. I've studied a few religions and instead of going for the differences in each, I try to draw on the similarities and go from there.
