Military Rules For The NON-Military

I came across this yesterday and thought it may need to be posted for all to read:

MILITARY RULES FOR THE NON-MILITARY

Dear Civilians, We know that the current state of affairs in our great
nation have many civilians up in arms and excited to join the military.
For those of you who can't join, you can still lend a hand. Here are a few of
the areas we would like your assistance with:

1) The next time you see anyone man, woman or child talking during the
playing of the National anthem ... kick their butt.

2) When you witness firsthand someone burning the American Flag in protest
... kick their butt.

3) Regardless of the rank they held while they served, pay the highest
amount of respect to all veterans. If you see anyone doing otherwise,
quietly pull them aside and explain how these Veterans fought for the very
freedom they bask in every second. Enlighten them on the many sacrifices
these Veterans made to make this Nation great. Then hold them down while
the Veteran kicks their butt.

4) If you are not in the military, DO NOT pretend that you are. Wearing
battle dress uniforms (BDU's), telling others that you used to be "Special
Forces," and collecting GI Joe memorabilia might have been okay if you
were still seven, but now it will only get your butt kicked. (Veterans are
exempt from this rule)

5) If you witness someone calling an enlisted Marine "Sir," stand back ...
a Marine will kick their butt.

6) Next time you come across an Air Force member, do not ask them, "Do you
fly a jet?" Not everyone in the Air Force is a pilot. Such ignorance
deserves an butt kickin (children are exempt).

7) Roseanne Barr's singing of the National Anthem is not a blooper ... it
was a disgrace and disrespectful. Laugh, and sooner or later your butt will
be kicked.

8) Next time Old Glory prances by during a parade, get on your feet
and pay homage to her by placing your hand over your heart and quietly thank
the military member or veteran lucky enough to be carrying her ... of course,
failure to do either of those will earn you a severe butt kicking.

9) What Jane Fonda did during the Vietnam War makes her the enemy. The
proper word to describe her is "traitor." Hate her or else (butts will be
kicked).

10) Don't try to discuss politics with a military member or a veteran. We
are Americans and we all bleed the same regardless of our party
affiliation.
Our Chain of Command, to include our commander in Chief .. the President
... (for those who didn't know) is all that we acknowledge. We have no inside
track on what happens inside those big important buildings where all those
"representatives" meet. All we know is that when those civilian
representatives screw up the situation, they call upon the military to go
straighten it out. The military member might direct you to Oliver North.
(I can see him kicking your butt already.)

11) "Your mama wears combat boots" never made sense to me ... stop saying
it! If she did, she would most likely kick your butt!

12) Bin Laden and the Taliban are not communists, so stop saying "Let's go
kill those Commie's!!!" And stop asking us where he is!!!! Crystal balls
are not standard issue in the military. That reminds me .. if you see anyone
calling those darn psychic phone numbers; let me know, so I can go kick
their butt.

13) Last but not least, whether or not you become a member of the
military, support our troops and their families. Every Thanksgiving and religious
holiday that you enjoy with family and friends please remember that there
are, literally, thousands of troops overseas wishing they could be with
their families. Thank God for our military and the sacrifices they make
every day. Without them, our country would get its butt kicked.

I am suprised each year on Remembrance weekend just how many veterans come out and march etc in respect of their fallen comrades, I do not go to the ceremonies as at 41 I still feel slightly embarrassed to stand with the veterans of WW2 and my former Chief Diver and close friend, who lives close to my area, feels the same.
Last year we agreed to go together and wear our medals but in the end just put on a suit and tie and wore a poppy!

In my 22 years of service the greatest honor I had was serving as an honor guard member at Randolph AFB, Texas. It was over 10 years ago but I still remember our condolences as we presented the flag to the next of kin.

"On behalf of a grateful nation and the president of the United States, we offer you this flag in remembrance of the faithful service performed by your loved one. With continued sympathy from the United States Air Force."

I'm sorry that it was taken the wrong way as well.
Usually I try to be SOOO politically correct.
But can't find anything to be correct about that wasn't already correct in the first post.
As someone who has spent Christmas 'neck high' in water in a country far far away so that my family and anyone else's family who live here could enjoy your freedom to be offended, I find it great that we are reminded to "remember" in any way possible those that we so quickly forget about.
I've spent xmas eve being shot at on a rice paddy field on post and a number of other holidays being in danger because that just so happens to be a time in which "others" think it's a great time of the year to trigger our security levels. I volunteered to be on duty many times in place of those with spouses and children because I could not be with my family. Due to the line of work I was in, I never could get a "thank you" for things unsaid.
But I did get to see some guys once get some mail from some thoughtful families who went out of their way to write servicemen/women who were serving over the holidays. They were from complete strangers who wanted to say thanks. You never will know the feeling and compassion an 18 year old or 50 year old gets when they're alone and get a little handwritten letter and picture from a child that says thank you and hope you get home safe! The "lift" it gave them and the pride that filled them, kept them going through the lonely times. And it does get lonely and you feel bitter at times trying to do something you know goes so unappreciated.
I urge anyone who can write and submit letters to the military, to do so.
You don't have to know them. They will get to someone, trust me.
And if I offended anyone...good....write a letter after you're done pouting.

I guess the right to express opposing viewpoints is one of the things this country stands for and is worth fighting for. Boomer, Pistol & Grneyedblack - the level-tempered good humor in which you responded to such a viewpoint is another tribute to the 3 of you, the uniforms you wear/have worn and the type of individual that we have serving this country. Thanks guys.

I guess you could call it emotional satire Grneyeblack....I truely like it and it meant something to me personally, but it was presented in a humerous way
I THOUGHT !!!!!! which is why i don't partake in any Jane Fonda movies nor would i go watch OR tune into any Braves games since Ted Turner actually married her. I still love ya man, and i got your back...
Some folks just don't get it cause they have never been there and god knows we didn't do it for the pay.
