That closet must be crowded with both you (closet musical fan) and Stlcard_25 (closet gloater) hiding in there.

Paint Your Wagon

A musical that has Clint Eastwood singing to Lee Marvin has to be near the top of any man's list.

"Best Film Musical" is kinda like "Best Form of Humane Torture" as far as I'm concerned!

But I must admit, 7 Brides for 7 Brothers was pretty good!
OK, so was Grease. But only because Olivia Newton-John looked so good!

I get the same response when I watch my all-time favorite West Side Story. "Ugh, daddy's watching the dancing ghetto pansy boys again. "
from my daughter I thought girls were supposed to be sensitive. Some people will just never understand.

Didn't expect to be thinking about film musicals tonight, but OK....
I love GR... always something to think/talk about here

My faves among those mentioned so far (some of which I didn't see):
Wizard of Oz, Fiddler on the Roof, Cabaret
(Honorable mention: Hard Day's Night, Woodstock, Blues Brothers, Stop Making Sense)

To toss out a few others:
1776 (fave song: the darkly haunting "Rum, Molasses, and Slaves")
Holiday Inn (a must-watch in our house at Christmastime)
Camelot (love the final scene: Arthur and "Sir Tom")
Annie (fave song: "Easy Street")

Good thread, C-B-C!
