I could care less

Rant time:

Why do people say this? It's totally and utterly meaningless. I've always said "I couldn't care less", which actually means something. Basically, under no circumstances could I care less about something than I do about this. ie I don't care at all. Saying "I could care less" means that you do care because it is possible for you to care less about something. Get it right people

End rant.

I suppose that "I could care less," but it would be really difficult to care less than I presently do.

Another one I never really understood is when somebody was "Head over heels" in love. I don't know about you, but that is usually how I get around day to day. Wouldn't "Heels over Head" make more sense? Actually I could care less about this, but it seemed to fit the thread

OK, JimSomebody, that's a low blow; you know that the infer-imply issue is one that I really do care about!
