people who twist things around....

....one thing that really irks me is people who twist things around on a thread to make people out to seem like a jerk or a fool. I didn't even get to eat breakfast yet today, and found a twist-jerk. and only finished half a cup of coffee. And, it's friday, 13th, to boot, and ...a full moon. I can see today is going to be a great day.

This is the thread Slicer was referring to in his original post Re: twisting things around:
my good deed for the year....

I'd encourage anyone to read through the entire thread. English isn't my first language, so there's a chance I inadvertently phrased my post inappropriately, but I don't believe I posted anything unreasonable towards Slicer in my reply - in any event I made a prompt apology in the thread and am posting it below for those who can't be bothered to read the above referenced thread. I trust that settles the matter:

The information supplied in your reply was not provided in your original post, as a result I wondered (as 'Keith' [and possibly others] obviously did as well) about the delay.

If you re-read my post, you will note that rather than guess at or jump to conclusions about your reasons/motives for the delay I simply asked 3 straightforward questions re: the incident. The last one offering, in your defense, a probable and reasonable explanation for the delay (i.e. that the clubhouse might have been closed) - which did in fact turn out to be the case.

The intent with my post was:
A) To find out the cause of the delay (giving you an opportunity to clear that up for anyone who might be wondering) and
B) Express that if a club I had lost at the golf course had not been found within a week - I would have given up on ever getting it back, figuring it was lost forever.

Your reply post shows that while you may not have been in position to turn in the club for a week you called the clubhouse/pro shop right away to inform them that a club had been found and would be turned in so that if anyone inquired, they would know the club had been found - thus addressing my concern, B). Safe in the knowledge the club had been found, I wouldn't have a problem waiting for a few extra days to get it back.
But then again, perhaps Slicer should have just stayed in bed today, it being Friday the 13th and all looks like he'd already decided it'd be a bad day

Slicer, I can't believe you are impugning every member of this site with your bad attitude. Why blame everyone because you had an issue with one guy. If you feel that way about the people at this site then leave.

Just kidding- trying to twist your words around. happy Friday the 13th.

If I were not using the handle, "SellMate", I would definitely consider "twist-jerk". I truly believe I could romance a handle like that.

About Golf Forums

One thing you have to do is not to take what is said on a golf forum personally. If you do you shouldn't post on a golf forum.

That pretty much goes for any forum. People use the anonymity to say things they would rarely say in person. Perhaps after they've had a few drinks...

Plus, the lack of body language and audible expression leads to constant misunderstanding that face to face communication eliminates.

I agree, and that's why I think the use of smilies is important. Even in face to face conversations, many times you have to learn the type of humor a person has (ie: dry wit) and their personality in order to avoid misunderstanding and hurt feelings.

It's like talking to a woman - if something you say can be taken in a good and a bad way, invariably the woman will take it the bad way! So it goes with forum posts - if there is a good way and a bad way to read something, rest assured the bad way will get the most attention!
