Two weeks notice or 2 hour notice?????

Ok vote, and I'll check back Monday.
Dream job that turned to nitemare when new management took over.
the facts (will withhold personal feelings)
Drive 2 hours for job don't need. (side business doing great).
Agreed to hours that allowed me to pick up my kids from school and less pay with understanding it would be reviewable after one year. Up till now, no vacation or time off because I have no back up, and we've been introducing new products. So now that I've completed everything for the PGA show, they decided to play a little hard ball.
One year later, new boss, new management, newly forced hours and no justification for raise or advancement since THEY were not here to appraise. Was told to clean out my desk if I didn't like it.
So as most of you know, my kids are everything to me.
So, two week or 2 hour notice (considering they DID say clean out my desk)?

Just about as long as it took me to pack my desk. I run a manufacturing company for a living and i would never handle a situation the way they did. Sounds like the new management has zero respect for their employees.

If you're going to burn that bridge(give 2 hour notice) , you'd better be absolutely certain you'll never need to use it again.

Have any idea when the next big thing comes up when they will need you? If it's soon, I'd stay until they can't be without you and give them the shaft. And the finger. Maybe even have a friend pick you up so you can moon them as you leave too. Wait, what are we talking about???

If you'll be set $wise, just leave. The kids are way more important. I know I'd accomplish more of my hopes and dreams if I didn't have kids, but 1) they're here because of my choice, not their's and 2) they mean everything to me.

So here's a second vote, use your employee discount to get me a new driver, drop it off at my mom's house in Chula Vista, then enjoy your time with your kids. Just kidding about that driver.

The radio station did a bid a while ago, where if you knew you were going to get fired or quit, they'd give you one or two hundred dollars to wear a hidden mic, go in really late and yell at your boss. Funny way to go out.

Maybe that's why my buddies are asking me about delivery times on rush orders????

Go, let them figure out what happened. Not really worth your time to tell them.

It's your job to keep or quit and, if you decide to quit, it is a direct reflection on you how you do so. It sounds like they will be losing a good employee but by leaving for lunch and not returning all you've done is justify their actions in their minds.

Two hours notice isn't unheard of and if handled properly you can leave with dignity, knowledge, and satisfaction that you've done the right thing for you and your family. The fact that you even posed this question tells us you have the integrity to handle this properly.

Good luck

I'd go with League's advise. This time.

I like to make light of situations, but seriously, you should go out with some class.

Leave it to leaquegolf to ruin my good "venting" mood!!!!
I was liking the "call the local radio station idea"!!!

I HATE being the only one that has to have integrity. Pooey.

But you're right about one thing. Two weeks would only serve for me to train and cross train individuals in a mad rush. And THAT would tick me off since that is all I've been asking for now for about 6 mos.
Same day notice may be the best way to go, but I do feel responsible for all the other departments affected by this. But they all understand that this was coming like a train.

Sorry, to use the board as a "vent" but sometimes it's good to see it "written" and bounce it off friends right?

Give them the two weeks notice and enjoy the balance of your time there. Never burn a bridge unnecessarily.

I've made sure I've put in 300% effort everyday this month in light of that conversation.
Sometimes just the thoughts of some of the comical "walk out" scenes that one could administer are enough.

But I'm listening to everyone. :)

I personally would not like to keep bridges with people like that...I'm not saying do anything you'd regret perse....but if they don't R-E-S-P-E-C-T you why is it the right thing to respect them back? For what reason...self dignity...violin playing in the background...give me a break!!!
