Well I was `strongly advised` to watch this show recently... I must be one of the last people here (on this forum ) to have started watching this series. I must say, it`s the best television series I`ve ever seen and after a number of purchases from ebay I`ve just watched the last episode of the last (fifth) series.
I think there`s another series being broadcast soon . I have really enjoyed and appreciated how well written this show is and hopefully long may it continue
P.S. Paulie was a favourite , and alas Adriana
P.P.S I`ll have to get `into` The Shield` now, as it`s been so highly recommended here, added to the fact I`ve been offered the first series on loan
Deadwood is great for those who can stand the language, makes me think that if the storyline and characters are accurate then the Old West was a lot rougher than we thought. The storyline as I understand it runs from around 1878 to 1880 in southwestern South Dakota as gold was discovered on Indian territory. Thousands came to prospect, and businesses sprang up to satisfy the needs of the prospectors/miners. You can really get into this series, it's very well done but the language is raw.

If you liked The Sopranos, I HIGHLY recommend The Shield. Chances are that you'd like it even better!
I like those characters, too. Other faves of mine are/were Ralph Cifaretto, Tony Blundetto, and Carmela Soprano.
FYI (for any Sopranos fans who don't know), Dr Melfi's psychiatrist (Dr Elliot Kupferberg) is played by film director Peter Bogdonavich, and Silvio is played by Steven Van Zandt, guitarist for Bruce Springsteen in the E Street Band.
No offense taken, Anthony. Actually, as a part-Italian person who grew up in the Philadelphia area, I take it as a compliment!
happy about that! My Grandmother, on my Mothers side was Italian (Napoli) and as such I had a Roman Catholic upbringing along with an Italian name (Anthony) which was strange for a Welsh boy from Dyfed.
Okay, there`s enough fans here so what`s your favourite scene/act in The Sopranos?
Some of my favourites are...
1. The scene where Tony `asks` the guy to take the baseball cap off in the restaurant.
2. When Christopher and Paulie get lost in the snow, chasing the Russian guy.
3. (A big favourite ) When Tony`s sister has completed her anger management course and is subtly trying to impress Tony with her new found tolerance levels...and Tony starts to provoke her at the dinner table by talking about her son, and how he got his name. Tonys` sister then snaps, and chases him out of the house...
