I made the mistake of emailing drunk once. I won't get into details, just suffice to say that I never use the computer when drunk again.
I mean really, how many ways can one person say they are sorry.

Yeah, GR has some strict rules, such as the ones against even minor swears. The comparison I make is that GR is like a course with tight fairways. Stay in the fairway and you'll be fine. Fortunately, the Rules/FAQ are pretty clear, and the vast majority of members can hit the ball down the middle. And look at the course we all get to enjoy as a result!

The thing about swears, BTW, is that, besides being un-family-friendly, they're just plain unimaginative. Vulgar language is minted so often in our culture that the currency has been debased. It's much more interesting to find some other way to say it. And there's always the smilies.

From `The Brit` perspective maybe the question would be better phrased as...

`Has anyone ever posted whilst sober?...`

(we have a reputation to maintain )

....given the various time zones that this board has to cater for, it`s easy to see how mishaps can happen. After all, some members are enjoying breakfast whilst others have finished their evening meal (with alcohol) ...subsequently leaving GR members on totally different wavelengths .

Also there are definitely cultural differences that I`ve noticed between varying nations here at Golfrewind, insofar as what is acceptable and what is not. There are words that have been censored here that I thought were/are harmless, and yet there are threads/posts here that I thought were `uncalled for` imo. However, overall I think the standard/system works very well !

Nice thread, valeogut! I must say, I haven't ever posted anything here while intoxicated, although I'll admit I have been on the computer while slightly under the influence. Basically you mess up typing, misgspsellhing wrdsos likekeekl thisssi. And it's really annoying for readers, so who needs it?

Should "****" have a capital letter - as in Heaven?

Or has it been regarded as inappropriate for religious reasons - I hope I don't go to ****!

If my post has to be edited for "inappropriate language" can we please use ****otherwise others might think I said **** or some other 4 letter word like g**f, and we can't have that can we!

It depends on what "Under the influence" means? I usually do my posting at night, one of the perks of my office having me here during the graveyard shift. On weekends when I don't work, I tend to be awake during these same hours, so from home I post at night. It is not uncommon to have a beer at home while I am posting. I am not sitting around getting drunk, but over the course of a couple of hours, while posting or playing online poker, I will have a couple of beers or a glass of wine. Would I consider my self "under the influence"...No, but technically I guess I am. It doesn't pay to get hammered and play online poker, and you can usually find out pretty quick if you are lucky enough to have someone play against you. Good topic.

That's all well and good, but do you post under the influence?

(I'd offer to pray for your soul, petermo, but that might put you in even graver immortal peril! )

1. The * is capitalized. Didn't you notice?

2. I also hope you don't go to Inappropriate Language .

3. No and No.

Is there anything else I can help you with?
