On Monday, my right hip suddenly flared up with pain. It was extremely difficult to get up from a chair, or to get in and out of my car, or to go up and down stairs or to carry things.
Then, I took an over-the-counter remedy - Naproxen Sodium - and within a short while my hip started feeling better. Today I've been able to get around without any problem.
Now my hip still feels sore when I poke it at certain points, so I will have a physician check me out very soon.
This Naproxen stuff - which I am taking as directed on the bottle - really saved the day.

P.S. - NOPE! Can't do the Vulcan Salute. Never have been able to.
Oh well, live long and persevere.
I've used it with some success when I get lower back pain. I take a little higher dose than directed, though. I'm well above average size, so I may take 3 when it calls for 2, etc. I haven't had any stomach issues with it, unlike ibuprofen which makes me nauseous if I don't eat with it.
Whatever Nsaid you are taking, please, friends, be careful. If taking larger doses than minimum for periods exceeding a couple weeks, it is really a good idea to get blood work done to check renal function and to monitor it on a regular basis. These drugs metabolize thru the kidney and liver and by the time you have symptoms of damage, it is often irreversible.
Also, any unusual heartburn or reflux should be checked immediately - esophogeal ulcers are not uncommon even at low doses. They have also been linked to heart attacks, which can be self-diagnosed inaccurately as "stomach" problems.
I sell several Nsaids and have seen some really bad side effects even at recommended doses. Like many "miracle" drugs, one needs to pay attention to side effects which affect different people more severely than others!

I don't think I've ever taken it more than 24 hours (2 or 3 doses). If the back pain hasn't gone by then, I'm heading to the chiropractor!
I have been having back problems for about 5 years now. It affects how much golf I play. Herniated disk L5>S1.
If you want something a little easier on the stomach get your doctor to get you a controlled release Surgam. (Prescription only). Also for pain, a slow release 20 mg Oxycontin (the pink ones) prescription only.

Surgam is a Canada/UK only drug I believe, and there is a
huge difference between nsaids and narcotics.
non steroidal anti inflamatory drugs, motrin, aspirin, annaprox, daypro, proxicam... there's tons of them, surgam is one, problem with all of them is they are very hard on the stomach, not just indegestion, but high doses and/or long term use can cause ulceration, liver disfunction and some other problems

Yes, The stomach thing is true with surgam too. The phamacist always puts a "ONLY TAKE WITH FOOD" warning label on the prescription.
