Unhappy Losing friends

I just got home from a memorial service for a wonderful guy I worked with for 30 years, who retired when I did five years ago. We shared an office for the last 20 years or so that we worked. He swam laps at the Y 4 or 5 times a week, walked with his wife every afternoon, and biked in the evening. He was striken suddenly at the Y on Friday. He had no history of heart disease and looked terrific for 62.

Just another reminder to make the most of every day and to make sure to maintain your friendships.

Sorry for your loss, valeogut. This is a real tough one. I'm sure you have many happy memories, but they probably don't help much right now. In time, I hope they will.

Thanks, guys.

I really felt for his wife and two adult sons and their young families, whom he adored: one is a Coast Guard Academy graduate and officer, and the other is an orthopeadic surgeon--just great young men, a real tribute to their parents' devotion. Fortunately, the family is spiritually strong and take comfort from their faith.

Valeogut - sorry for the loss of your friend. It sounds like he will be missed, by both family and friends, which in a way is a tribute to the life he led.

It is always sad when someone we love is gone. Really makes you think about your own life and what changes can be made for the better. Sorry to hear about your loss.
