Maybe the show E.R. will help people become aware of the genocide happening in this western region of Sudan. Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed by militant groups. I've heard on radio to expect tens of thousands to be killed in the next few weeks, unless public awareness is brought to this coutnry's attention. It is estimated that approximately 3 million people have fled this region to escape murders and brutal rapes. Many women have been brutally raped as well.
I don't know if this is a major headline in news, but I hope it is. Even though television for the most part has been politically correct, I have to admire E.R. for airing thses episodes to increase public awareness.

and it's been going on for years. There is a peace accord on the table, but not all of the rebel groups have signed on.

I started something which seems like a very small thing, but I was just hoping to boost awareness.. I sent and e-mail with some news stories on the situation and some URLs ( http://hrw.org/english/docs/2006/04/20/sudan13237.htmhttp://www.darfurinfo.org/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darfur_conflict) to look at and asked them to take some of their valuable time to take a look at this and also to e-mail two other people about this. Maybe a drop of water in an ocean, but with geometric progression there's a chance some people might become aware who are not now and I can't help thinking that we had the same kind of thing with Rwanda.
How can a show that has lost all of its original cast still be on TV? How much longer can this show last? I heard now this show may not even be ranked in the top 25 for viewing, and they are moving off of their conventional Thursday spot.

It's still regular viewing for me. The best drama on the original 3 networks, IMO. I didn't even watch it during its 1st few seasons. Great cast. Solid scripts.

NBC would be stupid to move ER against NCIS and American Idol. ER has not chance in that time slot.

The show is absolutly terrible now. It was really good back in when the original cast was there and even when they started to leave, it had a good foundation and they had enough of the original cast there to keep the story lines good. But now, so sad. Thursday was must see ER night, but now I can't stand to watch it.

Actually I read today ER is keeping the same time slot.
I want to go back and watch the Dr. Ramano episodes of ER (particularly involving some "helicopter issues") since the actor, Paul McCrane, is now on 24. On a related note, Season Finale of 24 this Monday!!!!

Isn't is amazing how the press spends all its time harping on the way we are supposedly treating a few hundred Moslem terrorists/murderers in Gitmo prison, and they ignore the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent people being mudered by the same groups of ruthless monsters in Sudan? And the national media wonder why they have no credibility?

Well technically it is not the same group, but I get your point. The deaths of hundreds of thousands(even millions- Hutus/Tutsis) of Africans has never troubled our government all that much, so why would the press jump on the story ? This, BTW, has been going on for years and widely reported for anyone who really follows current events.

I did my senior term paper on genocide in my poli sci class this semester... you wouldn't believe how many other genocides have been occurring around the world besides just Darfur...there has been Rwanda, the Sudan, plus tons of others...kinda sad when the world said "never again" after the Holocaust!
