Toronto 8, Baltimore 1

Preview - Box Score - Recap

August 7, 2006

TORONTO (AP) -- The Baltimore Orioles managed just two hits against a team whose starter was scratched before the game.

Brian Tallet, Jeremy Accardo and League combined on a two-hitter in place of injured starter Ted Lilly, and Lyle Overbay homered and drove in five runs to lead the Toronto Blue Jays to a 8-1 victory over Baltimore on Monday.

Lilly was scratched just before the scheduled start because of a stiff neck.

"It was a long day," Baltimore's Kevin Millar said. "What can you say? We got two hits.

"League was throwing 98 mph sinkers and that's not fun to face for four innings and then Accardo threw 95, 96 mph sinkers," Millar said.

Tallet didn't allow a hit in the first 2 1-3 innings. Accardo (1-0) gave up both hits but didn't allow a run in 2 2-3 innings. League earned his first major league save by pitching the final four innings.

Way to go League, not only are you shutting down the spammers here at GR, you shut down Baltimore too.

98 mph sinker. 98 total score. Maybe if you get your sinker down to 72mph, the score will soon follow.

Only if it doesn't sink and looks like a 72 mph batting practice fastball.......Or your catcher can't block a pitch in the dirt(not that I would know anything about that one )

Maybe you could get that pitching gig at the All-Star game called the Home Run Derby. What a great way to resucitate a career. Wait...maybe that was you.
