I was going to buy one of these, but I wanted to know if any of you have one. If so are they any good? The games look awesome. I don't want buy it and have it start messing up on me.
I dont own one(im holding out for the Wii)..but a few people i know have one. As long as you have a HD TV the graphics are great, but if you dont its really not worth the cash because the graphics dont appear much better than an XBox. I plan on owning all 3 next gen systems...Wii first, then 360, then PS3(probably when the next next gen comes out haha)...I recently added a PS2 to my collection of a gamecube and an xbox.

PUTNAM, Conn. -- Two armed thugs tried to rob of line of people waiting to buy the new Playstation 3 gaming console early Friday and shot one who refused to give up the money, authorities said.
The two confronted a "bunch of people who were in line" outside a Wal-Mart store shortly after 3 a.m. and demanded money, said Lt. J. Paul Vance, a spokesman for the state police. The new Sony consoles are selling for around $500 to $600.
I saw a bunch of people camped in front of a Circuit City store yesterday and didn't have a clue why. Now I know, there must be some who want a Playstation 3 badly.

If you want an idea of just how badly, check ebay...right around $3,000 for one...
****, i read today that 4 people were shot with BB's in a drive by BB gun shooting while people were waiting to mob the store to get their hands on a PS3

Reason: Inappropriate acronym
Someone told me the highest price they found on e-bay for a ps3 was $10,000.
Around 10am today, I followed the last 5 min. of an ebay sale of a PS3...it went from $9900 to $17,100 in that time....yes, 17 THOUSAND bucks for a ps3....kinda wish I had stood in line for 3 days and risked being shot!!
Posted it in another thread, but here is a PS3 that went for $99,999,999.00. I'll be interested to see how many of the high bids on PS3's are really legitimate-- some people on other boards are reporting being paid via PayPal and making 1k-3k, but a lot of the 3k+ bids seem to be coming from suspect bidders. There were a lot of obviously fake bids on eBay last night by low/no f/b buyers, I wouldn't be surprised, considering the loss of fees involved, to see eBay send a message and track a few of 'em down (probably kids who don't know how to hide themselves) and make very public examples out of them.
Prices seem to be coming down a little now online, with the flood of systems being posted. Sellers might do well to wait a little bit, now.
I can't imagine owning an XBOX, 360 or whatever they come out with. I prefer Playstation (1, 2, 3...). That being said, the 360 is suppose to have a great online system, and the new game Gear of War is one of the best games ever released on a console system. I would expect the 360s in store are very unlikely to have any bugs or other issues that show up in the first release batches. If you can deal with the controller (one of my biggest issues with the XBOX) then go for it.

It's the games that make a game system...hopefully, there will be multiple games that will cause people want a new game system.
I haven't been playing games much lately, but I thought I would check out Madden 2007 on my PS2 since I had a buy-one-get-one-free rental coupon hehe. It's amazing how much money EA has made by releasing nearly the exact same game every year for the past several years. I first played it on the Sega Genesis. Sure, it's very different from then, but not much different at all since the Madden of several years ago. I certainly wouldn't buy a new game system just for this game.
I rented Call of Duty 3 and Madden 2007 with the coupon. This was Friday and I haven't even taken a look at Call of Duty yet. I played one game of Madden so far.
Game makers have had the opportunity to do something significant, but keep making the same ol' same ol' that every other company is making. They seem to only be interested in sales and not making something significant and different. Perhaps the next "killer app" for a game system won't be a game at all. In that case, it would be a software and hardware package. I think people would be willing to pay for both hardware and software if it was a true killer app.

I think this is what you're talking about. But I agrees it's all about the games. BTW, this game (Part 1 and 2) gets at least 9/10 on every review I've read. I haven't had the $70 for it (and the "controller"), but I've heard it's well worth it.
yh ive heard mixed thoughts on this guitar thing, i play guitar and so does my brother and the thing is its nothing like a guitar, and id rather play in front of a real crowd than pixels?? but many do like it so i guess some people must love it.
