After Billy mentioned Madonna's version of "Santa Baby" in another post and I'm wrapping presents and listening to Christmas music so I started thinking about Christmas carols - old recordings and new ones. My favorites:
Old - Dean Martin - "Baby It's Cold Outside"
New - Eurythmics - "Winter Wonderland" (but Billy is right Madonna's "Santa Baby" is really good)
I don't know of many new Christmas songs I like. New versions of older ones are okay in most cases, but most of the contemporary Christmas music doesn't appeal to me, especially the R & B stuff.
Bing Crosby and Dean Martin are my favorites for X-Mas.
Those christmas songs that John Lennon did (maybe paul Mcartney too) or maybe it was just all of The Beatles. I have to say I dont very much else for christmas carols. The Beatle Boys, always doin' it right.
My all time favorite will always be Little Drummer Boy, performed in duet with Bing Crosby and David Bowie. I saw the Christmas program on tv were they performed it together and it has been my favorite ever since. David Bowie's voice was the smoothest that I have ever heard it for that one. Bing's voice is always smooth.

That has to be one of the strangest duets of all time. They both look a bit uncomfortable together. I have always liked that too.
Its not really a carol but i like the 'snowman' it was an animated short film and the theme tune was pretty good. Other than that i like the older more traditional ones, silent night, god rest ye merry gentleman etc.

I thought it was a bit odd myself and yes they did look uncomfortable at first, but as it went on you could see a change in their reaction to one another.

I found it on YouTube for anyone who has never seen it.

I saw that when I was very young. It was awesome for the time (late 80's, early 90's?)
The music in that clip must have been a pre-existing song because it's played on the piano in Tim Burton's Corpse Bride (animated film, starring Johnny Depp).
I heard two different versions of "You're a mean one Mr. Grinch" today - one by Slaid Cleves and one by Aimee Mann. Both were quite good, but I think Aimee rules here.
