Upcoming Presidental Election

I know this is a golf forum, but I am curious about who do you all think will be the winner in the November election?

I've been dreading the appearance of this inevitable thread for weeks now.

My regular weekly group has decided that we will simply not talk politics because it just ruins the enjoyment of our game and of one another's company. The frustration of golf is sufficient for one human being; he doesn't need the frustration of trying to convince his friends that his political positions are superior to theirs.

If my group is any indication, it's 3 to 1 for Kerry.

I figured we need a little controversy, it has been a couple of weeks since our last one

I am pretty sure who I will be casting my vote for, but I find the political process fascinating and have been watching a lot of the Democratic Convention, as I will with the Republican Convention next month. I have discovered that www.cspan.org has the entire video clips from the major speakers, so it allows me a chance to catch the few speeches I have missed.

i'm in politics myself, but i have found ppl get along much better on these boards if we don't try to change one's mind with regards to political belief, so all i can say is, there will be an election in november and be sure to vote.

They say there are 2 topics you shouldn't bring up in a bar: religion and politics. Too easy to get a fight started.

One thing I've noticed on the few occasions that I have revealed my political views is that you don't improve your standing with those who discover you vote they same way they do, but you can hurt yourself with the people who discover you vote a different way than they do (you know, suddenly they're not so sure you're OK ). So, as a friend of mine used to say about nearly any topic, "I ain't talkin'; it just don't pay." I'll just say that we are blessed to have the right to vote, and we should all be sure to use it.

Having said all that, I'm like Keith in that I find the political process, the moves, the staging, the speeches, all of it pretty interesting. I'm especially thankful when I come across any polititian, regardless of party, who doesn't resort to canned language and actually makes me think a little.

I don't think this subject needs to be in a golf forum. Good way to start a flame war or get members to disrespect each other due to their political veiws. Golf is not about politics, it is a game of honor, there is no honor in politics, not in todays world.

If I were of voting age, I would go Bush. While I don't agree with all of his politics, Kerry is a complete phony and is afraid to take a stance on anything.

Besides...Bush is good to Israel and he appointed my Grandfather to chairman of the Federal Pension Board.

Hey...I've been keeping golf ettiquite. All I said was "Kerry is a complete phony".

This is a put-down to John Kerry.

This is not a putdown to any member here who plans to vote for John Kerry.

That is just my opinion on the guy.

No breach of ettiquite here...

No it is not a breach Bates, but it will entice the Kerry supporters to chime in against you. My post was not directed at you it was directed in general to the entire forum, this place is for discussions about golf not about politics. Please don't take this personal as it was not directed at you or anybody else.

Did anyone catch the f*bomb explosion from one of the convention workers when the balloons weren't falling right. Classic. Next up the Republican convention, and I will try and watch as much as I can of that one. See if I can find and "phonies" in that one

Bates, everyone is entitled to their opinions, and I am curious what you are basing yours on? I voted for W. the last time, but am weighing my options this year. Please shed some light on this for me.
