winter golf in Illinois

it actually hasn't been too bad so far. i've already got a 18 hole and a 9 hole round in this year and plan on playing again tomorrow. hopefully we can keep these halfway decent temps around for a little while longer...

cheers,
Chris

I live right by Medinah Country Club in Illionios the 06 course of the PGA championship, and there hasn't been a course around me open this winter, they all claim it's too cold, and that they haven't kept us the courses! i don't konw what the deal is with these public courses!

i'm a member at 4 public courses and 3 of them are closed to early March and we're getting a all new couse designed by Raymond Floyd that'll be open in April. but there are still some publics open around here, i've played the U of I courses 2 times this winter and there's a resort course a few miles from my house and i plan on playing there tomorrow.

Up here where I live in New York it could be literely freezing and the courses would not shut down. The only time they shut down is when theres snow on the ground or when the ground freezes. I personally prefer 65 degrees and up for golf but if I have the chance to go I'll tough it out.

Is there ever a time when it's freezing and there's not snow on the ground there? I certainly know that it's a rarity around here...
