Anybody play a Heavy Putter? Saw one at my local shop, swung it a few times and liked the feel of the extra weight. Most if not all putters feel light to me. It seemed to stay on swing path easier , without guiding or steering to me. Or am I crazy(probably)? Thanks!
I saw the infomercial for the HEAVY PUTTER and I'm really very interested. Does anyone have this putter and can you give me some feedback on how it feels, if it does what the commercial says it does? Thanks.
You're not the only curious about this putter. I saw it on an infomercial. I like heavy clubs and the weight on this putter is distributed between the head and the shaft (just like a momentus). I would appreciate any feedback from people who have it. It's not cheap. Go to: http://www.heavyputter.com
I Have not used the actual heavy putter, but I know the concept works. on my monza corza it used to have 2 6 gram weights so 12 grams total. My swing path would some time go to the outside on the way back as I was over powering it I guess. I bought 2 26 gram weights so 52 grams and the thing tracks straight and true all the way back and forward. Changed my putting drastically.
I'm curious too. What's the real word on this putter??? Are they any good at all???
I tried it on artificial putting green. It seems smooth and if you have jerky swing it might help. But on a very sleek green, I have hard time putting with my Scotty or odyssey. Can't imagine short downhill putt with this putter on a slippery green.
Been using this putter off and on for about five months. The weight seems to get my stroke back in shape when it goes on the fritz. It is woderful on fast greens as the ball comes off the face with good feel. However, once my stroke is back to normal, I seem to go back to my white hot.
PS- handicap index is 3.8- while only a weekend player, it is short game that keeps game intact.
I've used the "Heavy Putter" (it's REALLY heavy) in a store and it's practice green. One problem, and I'm sure the product maker is having a problem with this issue - I carry my clubs, and this thing alone is the same weight as all my clubs put together. So, for me it's impractical.
I dont use the mentioned putter, but my putter is heavy. And its dramaticly improved my putting. Now, alot of the time im close with my first put from outside 6ft.
I used to have a big problem of comming short for putts. I just couldnt swing a blade putter for example with any power. It was either blast it over or come way short.
I have just bought one of these Heavy Putters (yesterday), and so far have only used it for some serious `carpet-putting` ! However, I`m looking forward to trying it out for real, as it certainly feels a very stable and well engineered putter!
One thing to mention though is that you can`t practise putt for too long with it because wow ....it really is a heavy, Heavy Putter!....
Ive used it for about 3 months. It is very good in promoting a stroke using your upper arms and shoulders. Very Stable. Also good practice tool as well.
I have found that it works better on fast greens and is very good for 5 feet and in. Takes the hands out of the stroke more than any other conventional length putter Ive used
I've putted around with these in a couple of stores on fake practice greens & immediately liked it. Of course all the putters feel great on those greens.. but...
The only reason I won't get it is because I walk & carry a lot. It isn't practical.
Ive putted with this in store I liked the weight but I had a TON of trouble controling speed with this and I felt like I wasnt getting feedback in the impact zone with this putter.
A conventional putter is about 490 grams (est 1 pound). The Heavy Putter is 885 grams (est 2 pounds). I can't believe that someone who carries a bag for 18 holes would not get a putter because of 1 extra pound of weight in their bag. That's a lame excuse, IMO. Your body will adjust to the extra pound after 1 round of golf. You will putt better and be stronger. It's win/win.
