CAMERON DETOUR 2 PUTTER:
Please give me a review of your/the putter. Do you play it dead center of it's clubhead line marking? Doe's it start the ball off on that excect line? Does the putter have a great same hit distance? How is the balance?
Thanking you in advance for your answers!
I think the quote should be on the bottom, but who knows....I havent had a chance to hit the putter yet, but it might be interesting...I am excited to talk to the rep about it...I'll let ya know if I get a chance to stroke it!
The Scotty Cameron deign, has been developed to provid golfers with a visual guide of the correct putter swing path. The two-piece construction has a hollow body with back weighting, to make the putter more forgiving on off-centre hits. It has a very good balance, and is forgiving. The putter does have a great same hit distance and it does start the ball on the exact line. A great putter, but for me its too big i struggle to control putter that are larger, though this is because i have never used one. The balance of the putter helps with the control, this is a great putter for anyone who struggle lining up thier putts. I would suggest having a putt with one at a shop, and see how it feels.
I can't speak of the Detour 2, but I own the Detour Newport 2 after my father said he didn't like his. I have a few problems with it.
I can tell you that the take-back line is somewhat distracting (I've always thought that if you're looking at your take-back during your stroke, you're doing something wrong). I've covered mine with white athletic tape.
Also, the clubhead tends to open when placed on the ground (I've noticed the same thing with the original Futuras). It must have something to do with the back weighting. While the putter has good MOI, you have to be careful to square the putter before making your stroke; simply resting your putter on the ground won't do it.
Finally, the back weight was loose when my dad got the putter from the factory, and it made a rattling sound when he putted the ball. I tightened it with a set of needle-nose pliers, but I think it is a good lesson to be wary of golf clubs with replaceable parts (weights, shafts, etc.) because they can come loose.
On the positive side, the putter has great feel. I like the soft feel of the aluminum "insert," which is really an extension of the backweight.
