Re: PING Karsten Series Putters (2008)
I agree that these putters are a good value, and are probably the best value in new putters (and I think that Ping has given players no good reason to spring for the more-expensive Redwood models that have Karsten counterparts).
I am not crazy about the grip that comes with them, but because I always change grips on the new putters I get, it is not that big of an issue.
Ultimately, I like the idea of putters--like the Karstens--that you can use, slightly abuse, and know they will be great gamers for years.
P.S. Ping's claim that the elastomer insert somehow enhances feel is baloney. I demoed a Karsten Anser in direct comparison to a G2 Anser, which did not have an insert, and could not feel a difference. Both putters felt great, but it just irks me that Ping claims the insert (which I perceive to be purely cosmetic) affects the putter's feel.
