Hey guys I need your sugestions on must play courese Myrtle Beach. We leave for the beach Sun. night and I am the only one in the group that plays so I am going to take my clubs and try to get paired up somewhere so that I don't have to call everywhere ,where's good?
To Still Up.
There are more than 100 golf courses around Myrtle Beach area.
AA course: Barefoot (Dye, Fazio, Norman, Love), Caledonia (old feeling), Dunes (same as Caledonia), International World Tour (new - you can taste best 18 holes around the world), Surf Club, Tidewater, True Blue
A course: Arrowhead, Blackmoor, Glen Dornoch, Heather Glen, Heritage, Legends group (Heatherland, Mooreland, Parkland), Long Bay, Oyster Bay, Pawley's Plantation, Prestwick, River Club, Rivers Edge, Sea Trail (Byrd, Jones), Wild Wing (Avocet, Falcon)
Mosr of the courses usually charge for Cart fee for afternoon replay.
Enjoy it..
True Blue and Caladonia are musts. Both towards the south near the airport. Also in the summer golf is almost free down there. We were there 2 summers ago and the 4 courses at Barefoot Landing had a special for 4 rounds (1 round at each course) at 150.00 in total including carts. Second 18 for the day was just the 28.00 for the cart.
Nothing but value all summmer long. Just grab a newspaper when you get there and it is full of specials.
I also like Acaidian Shores. Central Myrtle area. An old course but lots of trees and its just around the corner from Myabi (sp) the best steaks in town. Japanese style restaurant.
O.K I have done some checking around. Here's what I have got soo far.The dunes has a tournament that week so that's out. So it's between the Grande Dunes,BareFoot, International World Tour, That's what I have got so far as far a AA . Then after that I may go for a round at like Wild wing or somewhere near by. What do you think? I like the International idea ,but I looked at the site and MAN! is there alot of water...
I have played Grande Dunes, Kings North, & International World Tour. Barefoot has 4 courses of which I played only the Norman course. All are quality courses. IMO Grande Dunes is the most difficult especially if you play the back tees at 7,400. Water comes into play on that course more than any of the others. Supposedly the most difficult Barefoot course is the Dye course and like most Pete Dye course it will eat you for lunch. International World Tour is a course which is a collaboration of famous holes. Enjoyable to play and honestly not that difficult.
If I had to play one it would be Grande Dunes. If you want a good course a little cheaper consider Glen Dornach.
Where does Kings North rate? And is it that difficult? I don't want to play somewhere I am not going to enjoy myself because of the course being too difficult for me.

Kings North is good track to play. I played it two years ago around this time and the greens were in excellent condition for this time of year. The course isn't easy but I wouldn't say it is too difficult either. It was an older course that was redone by Arnold Palmer's golf design company, hence the name King's North. Some of the tee shots allow you to be aggressive but if you miss you will pay the price. I don't think you can go wrong playing King's North or any of the other courses.
