Need Recommendation near Hilton Head

Hi all,

I'm heading to Hilton Head, SC next weekend. I'm looking to hit up a nearby(within 30 miles) public course in the $40-50 range. Any suggestions?

Scott

I played a nice course named Santee National.. Only played 9 holes, and it was getting dark, but what i saw was very nice.. Also, if i recall correctly, the price was somewhere in your range.. I say go for it, and report back to me:)

I believe Santee is further away than that?

There are some decent courses on the island that are reasonable. Robber's Row or something? Also, Hilton Head National is a Player course right there and it is very good and in your price range.

Yeah, i think Santee is pushing it (distance-wise). Robbers Row looks to be pushing $100. Hilton Head National looks to be about $60, but looks nice. I might check it out.

Any other suggestions? I'm heading out Thursday.

Man, I could probably drive to a few, but it has been so long, I can't get any names. I don't think you would be disappointed with National though.

Keep us posted!

I live in the HHI area. National is very good, you can try Penny Branch about 30 miles with some of the most challenging greens I've ever played,... Island West is not a great course but a lot of interesting shots...my buddies call it "sporty, In Beaufort, 25 miles, try South Carolina NAtional, the area resort courses generally are overpriced

Have played Penny Branch several times and completely agree. For $32 on the weekend, it is a steal. Great fairways and greens that roll at 11. They told me they have them at 12 or 12.5 for tournaments...Also, Islands West is, for $30, a good deal. Agree HH Nat'l is nice, but for half the price Island West is pretty good, close-to-the-island golf...
