[quote=mr3856a]I'll share more of the "why" later, but I am heading to Myrtle Beach on or about February 1st for 3 months or so.

You're a lucky guy! On or about Feb 1st, I'm going to work........Like I've been doing for what seems like 150 years!

Not exactly sure, but you should be able to get on Sea Trail and the Legends courses for 50 or under. They are all pretty good.

PM walking rates anywhere between 25 and 40 bucks for the time I'll be there.

Picturesque, too:

Anyway, even if not this exact one, this is right along what I'm looking for.
Whispering Pines is a regular non surcharge course, but still decent and appears will meet your needs, have fun.

The rates on the web page seem somewhat higher than that, but not too much. Did you walk it/Can you walk it?

Thanks!

North Myrtle is a great area. My folks live there now after spending their entire lives in New Jersey. Just beautiful and trust me if you are going down there for 3 months you are probably not going to want to go home.

Here are some courses to check out while you are down there.

1) Tidewater: Great course right in North Myrtle but expensive.
2) Oyster Bay
3) Legends (There are three courses there. All are really nice)
4) Witch (Very nice and a challange)
5) Arrowhead
6) Pearl

Forgot the name but play the course in Myrtle Beach where you ride a gondala to the course over the waterway. Nice track for under $50.
waterway hills is the name of the course.

What exactly do you mean by "surcharge"?

I picked up on the whole golf mecca thing, it's the whole reason I'm going there after all, but I have slowly come to the realization there may not be a lot of great munies there for $30

Essentially what I'm getting at is, I ain't going to play the Norman at whatever resort course for $250, I'd just like a decent course that's cheap and a bit of a challenge. Though I'm finding there are more courses over $100 than under $50.

We have gone to Myrtle for the last couple of years and have yet to play a course I didn't like. As long as I am playing I am happy! I have gotten to play Wild Wing(avocet) I think is the only one left. King's North,True Blue ,Blackmoor, And World Tour(All 27). Out of those I think the most reasonable one is Blackmoor. But if you can swing it play Kings North.

I could be wrong, but I think the surcharge is waived for the locals. If you're not a local, you're considered second-class citizens and have to pay the higher non-local fee. (some courses are different)

When someone from Myrtle Beach comes up to the Northeast to play, we don't charge them extra.

Most in MB are from different places. Most are from the NE...others from all over the world.

We get a kick out of these message boards. When someone from the Northeast comes down here to play, we don't charge them extra. Frankly, it's quite the opposite.

We were hanging out on the range today and wondering...laughing...who frequents these message boards.

Me and my golf punk buds give free passes/free golf tickets to those that are conversationalists and...cool.

Such is life in Myrtle Beach. :)

Yeah you wont find many (if any?) little muni courses in Myrtle. There are courses in the 50 dollar range, but you wont find many under 50. Eastport is one that I know is usually under 50 but it's a fairly short/easy course. http://www.myrtlebeachgolf.com/cours...-golf-club.htm
