I again, have the fortune/misfourtune, of planning our groups annual Myrtle Beach trip for 2007. After trying to fit between birth's of babies, vacation times, some folks being teachers, we have decided on May 31st through June 3rd. We are staying at our usual place, River Oaks Condos. We know it's the low end of condos, but we are fine with them, we have a table to play poker on and beds.
Thursday afternoon as we drive down, we have a 1:30 tee time at Shaftsbury Glenn. Friday Morning, 1 round at Oyster Bay, we may look to replay that afternoon. Strip Club that night without a doubt.
Saturday is a double header, 8:30am round at River Club, then off to the Tradition in the afternoon.
I worked deals for 3 weeks now, and went with the guy who did our deal last year, Chris Saleem from Beach Vacations. I trust this guy, he really helped us last year, and we cahanged some stuff also while we were there, and he was happy to help.
Any play these courses? Offer their opinions? We really, really, wanted to play World Tour, but even their afternoon rate of 79.00 was just out of our range.

I think you should try and get to World Tour, never been there but they tell me it's nice. Is'nt Oyster Bay about the same price. For some more idea's go to www.mbn.com they have loads of info on the courses at Myrtle Beach.
Just seen this and it's available to book,- Diamond Back, North Myrtle Beach, June 3rd at 13.52 $149.00 for 4 golfers.
That is one alternative to World Tour.
I am going down there in a month, staying at Myrtlewood Villas. This will be the first trip there so I have no idea what to expect, but it should be fun.
I've played Shaftsbury, and it's nice. Very tough if it's windy, because the long par 4's get REALLY long. I like that course a lot. Played Oyster, but it wasn't in that great of shape for the money. That was last year about this time. I've played Diamondback 2 years ago, and it's a relatively short course, but in pretty good shape and fun. I'll be down there in a week, and I think we're playing Diamondback this year, but not any of the others you listed.
You have 4 good courses with Oyster Bay being your top course. $79 for World Tour? Our rate is $76 Make sure to keep an eye on the maintenance schedules for your courses (probably available February/March).
For what it's worth, we played Oyster Bay in July last year and it was terrible. Just everything was bad and to make it even worse the clubhouse failed to mention that the greens had just been plugged so that made it even more fun. We wont go back.
I have never played World Tour, but I have a few friends who have. They said that very few of the holes actually reminded them of the holes after which they were modelled. These guys would know as they have played St. Andrews and Pebble and others. Oyster Bay was a good course when I played it 3 years ago, I don't know about now.
As for The Masters, I could tell you some stories about that place.
I played World Tour in Myrtle shortly after it opened. The conditions were not great, but in all fairness it had yet to fully grow in and mature. I would expect the conditions to be a notch above the rest, especially at that price range.
I like the concept. But... I'm not sure that I would go back and play it again. Unless you are a total golfnut and have a detailed knowledge of the holes being duplicated, it's pointless to play it based on the concept alone. The only memorable hole (for me) was the cloned par3 17th at Sawgrass. That was the only hole that even remotely resembled the true layout of any of the other holes. I see it as more of a true novelty course, kinda like going to NY City... fun place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. ;)
I have friends who have played World Tour the past couple years, they say it's a must play. I may change Shaftsbury for World Tour.
Masters..did hold a candle last year to the penthouse Club, owned and operated by Penthouse Mag. When i asked the girls what the rules were, they said "What rules."
Would really love someone who played my 2 Saturday courses to give me a little insight. The guy who put this package together, I really trust, he hasn't steered me wrong in 3 years. He said Oyster Bay has been in great shape this past year, and looks to be very good now. My worries with Saturday was finding a couple courses that were fairly close, and these dates, a lot of course were sold through. No stay in the same cart options were availible.
I played Oyster Bay and thought it was really nice.
World Tour is ok. I played there though when they were in the process of airing out the greens so I got a rebate to play a free nine the next time I come.
