Smile Hilton Head Golf vs. Williamsburg Golf

WE are a group of 8 golfers. We have been getting together at various golf locations for the past 15-20 years; mostly Williamsburg, but also Hilton Head, Kiawah, Fredericksburg, and Myrtle Beach. We are planning our trip this year over the Memorial Day weekend and wonder if anyone has been to either of Hilton Head or Williamsburg during this weekend. We are most concerned about Tee Times and pace of play - i.e. we don't want a 6 hour round which we experienced at Myrtle Beach a number of years ago. We like to play 36 holes a day.

Any comments, suggestions or recommendations?

Thanks, AES

I know of one course in HH that wouldn't have anywhere close to a six hour round...

JC, what kind of winter temperatures do you guys get on the courses out there this time of year? I've thought it was somewhat cold, but from the recent posts about going out there in Feb, etc., it sounds like its milder than I thought? Are we talking 30's, 40's, 50's (degree *F)?

Hold on, I'll look it up on weather web (Myrtle Beach, SC):
(I must say, higher than I thought)

January Avg Low: 37° Avg Hi: 55° Avg Precip: 1.35 in

I played Williamsburg early May last year and loved it. Played Golden Horseshoe (Gold), Tradition Golf Club (TGC) Royal New Kent, TGC Kiskiack, and Kingsmill (River Course) on our stay. All were a "10" in my book! Took some planning on our part to get all of these lined up but it was well worth it. None took more than four hours for our threesome. One time (Kingsmill), we had a single added on to our group. Weather was absolutly perfect. The service at all four was great. It did rain the day before we got there and a couple days after we left. The "Golf God" was definitely looking over us!
