myrtle beach trip

Well just before Christmas 4 of us headed down to myrtle beach for a little golfing. We couldn't wait to get away from the snow and cold in Toronto. When we got there, it was the coldest it's been there in 15 years. It was 27 degrees F in the morning and "warmed up to 31 in the afternoon for the two full days we were there! They did let us the course (felt sorry for us i think)...the only other person out there golfing was one guy by himself from London, Ontario, Canada! We had two sweaters and a jacket on each and between running to hit and back to the covered golf cart, the best i could manage (with new clubs and no practice non the less was a 102....i usually shoot in the high 80's on good long courses). Now i have to wait until May to remind myself why i spend so much money and time playing golf.. ...but one friend of mine usually shoots in the low 80's regularly and the best he could manage was a 92 the one day and a 99 the following day... so i guess i shouldn't get too down...just bad luck ....heading down i had visions of personal bests....that's golf i guess....lol

From experience...it's never a good idea to go on a golf vacation expecting to shoot great (or even good) scores. Especially after a layoff of any length. As a veteran of several Myrtle Beach trips I always go with only the thought of having a good time and enjoying the golf. The guys that go with us and complain about bad shots never seem to have a good time and don't come back the next trip.

Sorry to hear about the bad weather. I hope that didn't turn you off on Myrtle Beach. It's still the golf mecca of the USA.

I know Myrtle Beach has some fabulous golfing, but this time of year you should have flown a few hundred miles further south. Next time, come down here to Sarasota, Florida. It was 72 here today and will be in the upper 70s for New Year's. I am still playing in shorts and short sleeved shirts. Poop on winter.....
